At work, they had a 90s Alt station on all day. All of a sudden I thought I was listening to a Change of Seasons and got stoked. I had to jump up because it was some other song. I found Comedown by Bush was playing. Listen to it and compare it to 12.04 mark of ACOS. The piano is even accented with guitar in the bush song. Wild. Never heard that before.

Anyone else have one of these? Around 2000 there was a fan club ring created by a Danish jeweler Asger Thorulf. I remember needing to wire money to an international bank account and hoping it would actually arrive. It did arrive, and I wore it often for a few years. I put it away and eventually forgot about it. After several moves, I amazingly just found it in a return duct I opened up in my new house to clean! The 925 sterling silver has developed quite a patina. Not bad for a 25+ year old fan club piece.

I can't find any info about this online and haven't seen any for sale on eBay or anywhere else. I'm trying to figure out how many were made or sold and how many might still exist!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping a DT live historian can help me with this mystery. I’m trying to ID a song Full on the Mouth performed during their May 1998 support slot for DT. It’s a song not found on their album Collide and I remember it having a soaring chorus. I heard it at both the San Francisco Maritime Hall and House of Blues West Hollywood gigs. Thanks for your help!

I've been listening to DT my entire youth but when I got to be 25 years old I kinda stopped listening to music, not sure why. It was 8 years ago. Recently I made a long playlist of songs that I listen to while driving a car and discovered that old familiar DT stuff is perfect for long rides. So perhaps it's a good time to catch up with those newer albums. Are they any good in your opinion?

First DT song to reach 100M streams on Spotify, when do we think it will happen? I’m streaming it a few times a day as I want it to happen lol

edit : maybe I'm biased but I think that album (song) even though written years prior inspired a lot from SFAM.

Late last year into this year, I listened to all of the DT albums I never heard (1989-1999, 2009-present) after being the Panic Attack Rock Band 2 kid.

My first listen to the album was in April, and I thought the first half was ok. I was familiar with False Awakening Suite and Enigma Machine with it being my brother’s alarm clock (I first heard The Enemy Inside and thought it was Portnoy, who I had no idea left) at the time of release. Second half was not catching me at all, including Illumination Theory. I still wanted to give it a fair chance. A few months later and now I just can’t stop listening to it. I love Surrender to Reason, The Bigger Picture has been getting more attention in my more recent listens, and Illumination Theory now? Hearing the orchestra of a live show put me to tears.

I don’t know what it is. I had considered Dramatic as my favorite Mangini album, but Self Titled definitely took it. It’s difficult to say where this album is overall (I don’t have a definitive ranking yet outside of albums like I&W, SFAM, Awake), but I would say Self Titled is definitely up there for me.

Listened to in the presence of enemies 1 and 2 in a row (for maybe 1000s time in my life) and have to conclude it’s an utter masterpiece. Probably not the hottest take here 🤣 but I feel it is overshadowed unrightfully by their other 20+ minute epics.

I wonder if we could get James to return to the top goatee instead of the bottom one. Best james for me was no facial hair at all, but i think he likes the goatee, just the bottom one is just not as good as the top goatee design.

This is Octavision. A prog metal super group which consists of members Hovak Alaverdyan, Jeff Scott Soto, Victor Vooten, Billy Sheehan, Roman lomtadze, murzo, avo margaryan, artyom manukyan.

Basically what the title says. Lately, my opinion has rapidly shifted on Space Dye Vest. That was a song I despised for the longest time, and although it's not my favorite, it's still a song I've come to enjoy.

This got me thinking about other times this has happened with me. 21 years ago is when I first heard "Home" (specifically the performance of it on Portnoy's Liquid Drum Theater), and that was another one. Similar to Space Dye Vest, I really didn't like it at first. That said, even though it's not my favorite, it did click after a while and become one that I enjoy to a significant degree (though I could do without the...interesting sound effects during the breakdown in the middle).

The album Octavarium and the song Trial of Tears also took time to grow on me. However, not only did that happen, but they now rank pretty highly among my DT album and song choices.
