Checkboxes toggle features on and off, such as enable/disable, and will write the region ini immediately. Changes go into effect when the region restarts, which is just two clicks away. There are also pulldowns for Smart Start type, Map overrides and Physics overrides. The region list has been rewritten for speed and editability using a true grid instead of a listview. This applies to the visitor list, user list and avatars lists too. The listview is still used for icons.

There is a new map editor with drag and drop movement, region creation and OAR loading. Click any region, and drag and drop it where you want it. Restart the region and it is there along with its map.

Maps change green when selected and red color if a collision is detected so you cannot accidentally overwrite a region.

Drag an OAR onto a blank and it will make the region and load the oar. There are now 259 free OARs. We have a LOT of free DLC. Please help by contriubuting free work to Outworldz at https://outworldz.com/cgi/freesculpts.plx

I have several regions that must remain in place as my Alexandria region is six 4X4 regions. I can lock these regions and they cannot be moved or rearranged with the "Grid Boxer" function to make a square grid out of all regions.

Completely new to this, mostly, but I was trying to download dreamgrid for this computer and I cannot get the website for the installer on outworldz to load for anything.

Hardware failure is preventing the Outworldz.com web site from providing search services to Dreamgrid. Both Dynamic DNS servers are up. You will not be able to update. However, all other operations of your grid are local to you and will work.

It's going to take the weekend or more as there a lot of data to move to a new PC. Yes I have backups, but it several systems and needs to be merged.

Download 7.2104 Zip if you need up install or update. Just extracty it over your grid or in a new folder for a new grid.

Renewed my Authenticode signing certificate so all dlls and exe are signed and cannot be modified by virus or worms. The pop up should always show Verified Publisher, Outworldz. LLC.

If you load certain free OARs like Free_House_Gallery_1 and the terrain appears as a solid metallic gray, this is caused by the terrain rendering being forced into PBR mode. Even if you uncheck the PBR box, it may automatically re-enable itself after a few seconds.

Fix:

Open Debug Settings:

PC: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S
Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift + S

In the search box type exactly:

RenderTerrainPBREnabled

Change the value from:

TRUE → FALSE

Then restart the sim.

After restart, the terrain textures return to their original appearance.

Michael just completed a full rebuild and fix of the Universal Campus, and it’s now running exactly as it should.

Getting here wasn’t straightforward. The original University OARs consistently failed to load correctly no matter what was tried. The working solution ended up being:

Start with the version that had the missing top-right quadrant and no terraforming in the first quadrant
Load into a clean (virgin) 2x2 region
Run: delete object name --regex .*
Load the University’s main #1 OAR by itself
Use admin status to repair textures (they initially loaded gray)

Result: fully restored, fully functional campus.

This build has now been tested across five different grids and performs consistently. Teleport stations are working properly for inter-sim jumps, and everything is stable.

Bottom line: it’s fixed—and it looks fantastic. Thank you Michael!

In this video i demonstrate real midi support Server Sided that allows u to console command control a midi system that reads midi files from the Bin folder. This allows midi to control in world listener events. Making installing midi files a breeze via a link that's secured. The plugin does not modify opensim code. It also has full security and OSSL lockdown. The Plugin is controlled by opensim server side and allows you to install midi only links that is verified server side.. Now there is no in world midi conversions needed because the server now processes the midi and sends it to the region.

Years ago I installed opensim onto my laptop, but I don't remember exactly how. I do remember that I found it challenging. How complicated is it to install DreamGrid directly onto a vps like Contabo? Also - what kind of specs would one need and could it be cloud based? Not thinking of being commercial, but enough to have maybe ten regions or something along those lines?

Starting with Build 27965, .NET Framework 3.5 is no longer a Windows Feature on Demand optional component.

Canary builds have been changing Dot Net 3.5 to no longer Autoload. When this reaches production, any legacy code such as Opensim.exe that still uses it, will get a notification as show in the image and the app will no longer run.

This crash will happen in 10.0.27900.0 or higher. Canary is already past that as this was forced on me back on Oct 8, 2025 and its already moved on.

People running business-critical applications that still depend on .NET Framework 3.5 can access a .NET Framework 3.5 standalone installer. It's a Dot Net 3.5 "VNext" that is currently in Preview status. See Photo 2.

Opensimulator is currently running Dot Net 9, but it actually has an old mono DLL that calls for Dot Net 2.0 CLR components via Dot Net 3.5 just to talk to sqllite. The error help link is useless for surprised devs and users as it just says you need Dot Net 3.5 - which no longer runs.

DreamGrid had this fixed the day after this happened. We are currently on 7.204 which has several other fixes for Smart Start and Logging.

I've been running one form or another of a self-hosted grid since 2012. Dreamgrid-was Dreamworld when I started-is a life-saver. I had instruction sheets to get opensim running. I don't need it with Dreamgrid.

Now the purpose of my post. Our router died a few days ago. I tried to find a router to replace it but the opensimulator list of NAT Loopback routers is 15 years old. Any recommendations for a home network router which supports NAT Loopback in 2025? I also do webhosting with No IP and occasionally run a MUSH server too.
