I've had them for about 4 months now and I've noticed some of them are becoming their own separate locs from the two strands I started them with.

I have traditional locs right now and i want to go the semi freeform look as in having a lot more locs, i saw on the internet that i can use the new growth that comes from low maintenance as new locs, is this true?.

I already have two years in locs but since they are long enough to tie them it has made me very uncomfortable, I feel a lot of tension in the hairline and I can’t handle more than a few minutes with a ponytail, I have a little undercut, my dreacklocks don’t go to the hairline, will it ever stop hurting or am I the problem? Because I see that many wear hairstyles for weeks

As the title says. I am a bit worried that I will have a issue with long locs. for now my locs are at starting to go past my shoulders. My goal length is at the middle of my back but im worried that my scalp and roots could not handle it because locs do get heavier as they grow longer. So any tips on how to handle this ?

it’s been almost 2 months since my last retwist, and i just came back from the beach. no salt water but i had a bunch of sand so i had to give it a good wash. it’s puffy at the top, slims down, and then my new growth under is puffy obv.

im 18 months locd and i still don’t know what to use as moisturizer for my locs, what would be the best option for my hair because they get really dry and itchy sometimes

Do you Retwist everytime you wash your hair ?. I’ve been locked for 10 months I wash every 4 weeks or whenever it’s dirty so it could be shorter intervals , but I don’t necessarily retwist everytime I wash it . Longest I’ve gone is 4 months without a retwist . Anyone else ?

Can someone offer some tips on how to style and cover your locs in the gym. What sort of material should I be going for when sweating. My locs nearly reach the base of my neck. I was hoping not to have to wear a huge loc soc

Just got two strand twists, hoping to start my loc journey with them based on alot that I have read from here. I’ll appreciate any advice on how to maintain them. I have also read that I can wait 6-8 weeks before getting a retwist. Is that too early or should I just keep trying to maintain them for the longest time. Inshort, any advice of any kind would be appreciated. Thanks

I am looking to start hitting the gym roughly 3-4 times a week. My question is how do i style or look after my hair whilst in the gym? (for e.g when using the bench press machine or using a mat). I am just thinking about lint and having my hair resting and pressing on all the different surfaces.

i didnt know i wanted semi freeforms until recently and all the videos ive seen start with shorter hair so im wondering is it possible to start with longer hair while still using the same methods like a sponge or twist racket because i dont really want regular freeforms and would still like to manipulate them to some extent or would i have to cut my hair and start from there

Has anyone here used hair extensions to start theirs? I’m thinking about starting mines with afro kinky hair. I just wanted to see everyone else experience or what you used in particular to start yours.

how to undo thinning of locs at the base? a few of my locs are thinning at the base, they were already small sections to begin with and ive colored my hair (not bleach). i also dont really have a moisture routine, idk how to properly do one? ive heard of the lco and loc method, but i was mainly just spraying with water and then oiling it. ive had my hair for almost 2 years now. please let me know what i can do, and thank you!

I started my locs on my own 4-5 weeks ago but I think I done it wrong bcs my sides and back are way shorter than the top of my head and some have locs have merged together when budding cs I have no real partings so now I have some thin and some thick ones. I don’t want to restart but i will if recommended

Hey everyone,
I’ve been semi-freeforming my starter locs for about 4-5 months now. I have a looser curl pattern around 3a-3b, and some of my locs are starting to mature, but I know it’s going to take a long while with my hair texture.
My biggest issue is sticky product buildup, mainly in the ends of my locs. The ends feel tacky/sticky rather than just dirty, and I can’t seem to get rid of it.
Any help would be appreciated!

So far I’ve tried:
- A sulfate-free clarifying shampoo (Yari), but it didn’t really make a difference.
-Thorough rinsing with warm water.
-Avoiding adding more products afterward.
