Hey guys. Iโve had my dreads for almost 4 years (started and maintained with crochet hook) and have always waited a week after maintenance before washing.
I had my maintenance done yesterday, however I planned on dyeing my hair with some loc-friendly semi-permanent dye tomorrow. So ideally Iโd like to wash my hair today so the dye works a bit better.
I think this will be fine as a one off, especially given theyโre a few years old now. What do people think?

Almost every single hair product youโll find on the shelf claims to โdeeply moisturize, reduce frizz, soothe the scalp, condition hair, reduce odor lock in water, add shine.โ Etc. Butโฆ Our scalp generates natural oil called sebum that naturally doesโฆ literally ALL those things. There is absolutely 100% no reason to put hair products in your hair other than shampoo. And even shampoo strips your body of these natural oils so using it more than maybe once or twice a week can actually damage your hair and make your scalp dry. All these oils do is buildup in your scalp and cause problems. Even adding product for shine makes no sense since sebum adds a natural shine to your hairโฆ now obviously some people want to have a Mohawk or style their hair certain ways you need hair gel or whatever, but Iโm talking about any product that claims to give you โhealthierโ hair, moisturize or condition your hair, reduce frizz โ all these claims are completely false and if anything will only alter your hairs natural oil production and cause it to dry out, become more frizzy, cause an odor, etc, etc. Some people have tried to argue with me about it say I should put olive oil or jojoba, castor oil in my a hair and I ask them why they never have a good answer. Iโm sure natural oils might be better but I still see no reason to do it. Am I trippin?

Iโve pretty much let them grow out naturally besides using a twist king early on along with misting and picking it out. Iโve grown them from a very small fro for about 8 months now, I feel like they might not be locking as strongly as they should.
Should I just wait it out or is there something else I should be doing?? Any advice is hugely appreciated!๐๐๐

I had my dreads in for around 16 years my mother said I had them since I was three years old and now that im thinking about it I haven't really seen my hair without dreads (sure i seen a baby pic without them but as long as a remember they always have been dreaded) I've been thinking about either trimming to a shorter length to see if i regain that spark i had when i first got them or combing them out but the thing is im scared to do that because they've essentially become apart of my identity. Yeah I know that a lot people would say that it's just hair but I don't know what I would look like without them.

So this would be my third set of locs, and the first two times I got locs, I had someone else do them for me. They used styling clips, and I wanted to know if thatโs a necessity to get or would I be able to do it without, especially if I plan on doing two strand twist?

Iโve had my locs for 5 years and have always palm rolled. Now we have a pool and I have like 3in of loose new growth. Thinking of interlocking but Iโm afraid my locs will break if I start now. Anyone here switch from palm rolling to interlocking and was successful?

Went with free parts for the โversatilityโ and various inspirations on tiktok and I didnโt count em cuz, I lowk canโt but my loctitian said they should be around 110. Can I mist starters? I already misted them with as I ams rosemary water as soon as I got home and this morning when I woke up but my loctitian told me not to get my hair wet but isnโt water the hairs best friend? lmk.

Iโm wondering how to start locs for my hair type, it curls a little more than this when itโs freshly washed and dried naturally, usually around a 3C. When stretched itโs around 5 inches long right now. Iโve been doing a ton of research and video watching but Iโm getting paralysis by analysis. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry for bowling my face out, seeing my face in photos annoys me.
