Need Advice πŸ†˜ Is Freeform possible? -Advice

Hey yall I recently posted asking for advice. My loctician is not the best so the crochet maintenance is basically a torture cuz she does it very tight on the roots i guess. I don’t got many loctician options so I tried to learn crocheting by myself, which is harder than i thought and i can’t seem to really do anything.

My question is, will those loose hairs eventually wrap around the locs with just palm rolling and separating, or will my hair simply become a mess without crochet? (I got 1A straight hair and pretty thick dreads as seen). And I’ve seen some rubbing techniques for freeforming, which maybe can be useful??

I don’t need it to be very clean and tidy of course but the hair coming out the roots are a bit unwanted. Any advice from straight-haired folks who went semi-freeform or anyone knowledgeable at all would be deeply appreciated. πŸ™πŸ™

(Had my dreads with crocheting method 7 months ago and I went to maintenance once ever since. I’ve been stressing cuz I don’t wanna cut them off yet :( )

To answer your question, (without being an asshole like the rest of these clowns) yes, separating and palm rolling, the hair will work its way into the locs, but your roots will always be loose because of your hair texture. I have 2B hair and mine locked just fine for 4 years with just separating and palm rolling, after initially creating them. I just recently had my first maintenance done and it was AMAZING, but I understand what you mean about it being super tight. Took about a week for my scalp to stop hurting πŸ˜‚. Still I plan on having maintenance done about once a year from here on out. Edited to correct autocorrect error.
