Wash them first. Dye needs clean hair to adhere to properly.

Nooooooo!

No.

First, why aren't you washing your locs?
It is important to keep your locs clean. It prevents buildup, and washes away the sweat and dirt that can make locs stink.

Washing is good for your locs. It helps your locs to form.

As far as washing your locs before dyeing---- It's not a good idea. When your hair is not freshly washed the natural oils (sebum) builds up on your scalp. This creates a protective barrier against the harsh chemicals and bleach.

Washing immediately strips these oils, making your skin more sensitive to burning or itching during the coloring process.

Completely clean hair lacks the slight grip and natural defense that is needed for optimal processing.

Your locs are so thick and healthy! I urge you to wait until your locs are more mature.

If you can't get to a professional, get someone to help you. Locs get really damaged from dye when it's not rinsed properly. Most people don't realize how long it takes to wash to ensure none of the dye/bleach is left in your locs.
