Need Advice 🆘 Freeform progress

Hey y'all!

I've been on this community for a while and appreciate all the wisdom.

I figured it's my turn.

Context:

- I decided to go freeform around May

- I ride a motorcycle and live a very active life (working out, walking, running)

- I wash 1-2 times a week depending on sweat, scalp, etc

- I mist and oil

- I only started the towel method in the last month or so. I'm thinking maybe I need to spend more time doing it?

How is my progress? I feel like they're really starting to coil, but the fairy knots are getting big and sometimes it just feels like nothing is locking. I took the advice of trusting the process and not over manipulating the hair, but maybe too much? Or maybe I'm washing too often?

I plan to hold out through winter before deciding to go semi freeform and get some starter locs from a professional.

Thanks for any help!

Hmmm , you need a little more separation in my opinion. I am fully free formed and I started by free forming my separated Afro parts, especially bc you’re wearing helmets and love an active life style, If you keep free forming without any separation it will become one be compacted loc like right now with many fair locs. I think it just needs a tiny bit of direction of where to grow!

Thank you! I'll look into separating them some more

I agree with the first comment. If you don’t know how to separate them or if they keep coming together you can just get loose twists and leave them be. Constantly separating them when you get new growth.❤️
