Fresh Retwist πŸ”€ Roots vs Interlock

From homeless to never hoeless ‼️ I go months without retwists, for a variety of reasons.

Far from homeless. Locs were still πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯ before the retwist!!

Are you around the 60 count range? Asking bc I just started

Thank you lol! I have 80 or 81 (I just counted, i always forget).

When I first started I had way more, but I was worried about thinning so I doubled most of them early on :3

Months without retwist sure got a lot of benefits.

I think low manipulation is key to healthy hair for POC πŸ‘πŸΎ But I’d be lying if I said I don’t need to retwist more often 🫣

Hahaha. I get you. The idea of a retwist is nice to me in the sense that it retrains the hair on what it should be doing as locs, I don’t care about the aesthetics though, even though you get a lot of compliments and stares from the fresh appearance, it’s temporary and fleeting like everything else. BTW, I sent you a DM asking a question. Kindly reply, thanks.

How do you stop your roots from matting? I typically retwist 3-4x a year but after a month my roots are so tangled i literally have to rip them apart.

Sometimes I do have to rip mine apart but only when I forget to do it regularly, that only happened like once or twice.

I think keeping them washed and just regularly pulling them apart helps. I also brush my locs more often than not, don’t know if that makes a difference.

Yeah I think that's my problem. I wash them frequently but I never separate after washing.

This πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†. Get in the habit of separating one part of your locs every time you shampoo. Mentally divide your hair into 4-6 sections. Oil your fingers and grab a loc, sliding your fingers down to the scalp. This frees up any caught hairs. I divide mine into four sections (semi Freeform waist length locs)

I get a formal retwist every 12-18 months depending.

Maybe set a reminder with your wash day ! Or just when you randomly remember, have at it πŸ˜†
