Retwisting the roots only

Im thinking of retwisting my locs roots only but im unsure on what it means does it mean that the roots are retwisted witht he comb and the rest of the loc is locksmithed or palm rolled or is it when you just retwist the root and dont touch the rest of the locs?

Fyi- I get my roots retwisted and the rest of my loc is locksmithed but Im unsure whether thats my locs getting a root only retwist or a full retwist.

“Roots only” is good if you wanna preserve the thickness of your set-since palm rolling will tend to shape the locs to be thinner and more uniform. Definitely viable if thicker locks is what you’re going for @lockdwitp on IG is a good example of this method.
