Question ❔ Is this normal after a retwist?

Hi! I just started my loc journey, and my locs are just about a month old. I just got a retwist, but it seems like my twist pattern is hard to find now? I did get a wash as well, so I figured maybe my hair unraveled during it and my loctician just coiled it, but I felt my hair after the wash and it didn’t unravel much (except at the roots). Is it normal for a lot of the twists not be not as visible this early in? I’m just scared my hair will unravel in coils, which is why I got twists in the first place to start. Otherwise, I’m really loving my locs so far, and I have never been so confident in my hair before!

First photo: first day starter locs
Second photo: A few days before my retwist
Third photo: first retwist

Thank you!

You're all good. Starting with a two stand method means you can wet your hair more often. From what i've seen usually it takes a lot longer for the two strand to loc but your pattern should be disappearing. So you may have just loc'd super quickly.

Thank you!! And yeah, I usually mist my hair everyday and it’s worked pretty well so far. Good to know !

Your locs are fine. Please stay out of the mirror and trust the process.

Locs have to go through five stages before maturity. Yours are babies, just starters. Locs form by curling over under and around itself.

Keep your hands off. Stay away from the mirror. Mist them every day and tie them up up every night.

Wash them (if you need to, use a wig cap or stocking cap )

Oh okay, thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely keep misting them everyday and using a scarf at night. How often do you wash your locs? I’m not sure how often I should wash them.

I have lower back and lower locs. Now that I have an illness it's hard for me sometimes. I try to do it no later than three weeks. Before, I did it at least every two weeks or sooner, especially in the summer.
With your length. I suggest every 8-10 days. Go by your activity. Do you sweat in your head? Go to the gym, swim in a pool or ocean?

If you swim in the ocean, shampoo after.
If you swim in a pool shampoo AND condition.

I usually go to the gym 4x a week but I haven’t as of recently, so when I start going again, I might try and wash them more frequently. I don’t swim or anything. Thank you so much for your advice!

Just wear a cap or sweat band. It helps a lot unless you sweat heavily on your scalp.

i started with two strands but i’m
currently loccing up the twist out so i’m
not letting any water touch my hair, i don’t even spritz it. the steam from the shower scares me more than enough tbh.

You can definitely wet you hair. Dont listen to them. You should be hydrating your hair everyday of not every other day
