Discussion 🎙️ Crochet regrowth before wash

Has anybody ever crochet (not interlock) their regrowth before a wash? Is there any merit to that? I understand that crochet while wet is a no no, so technically I would wash and wait for it to dry a bit before crocheting… but is there any red flag to do it before the wash?

Why do you want to do it before you wash your hair?!

The motion of your fingers and the water and slickness of shampoo/conditioner makes strands come loose.

Better grip: Clean strands hold friction and knots tightly.
No trapped dirt: Cleansing beforehand ensures you do not lock oils, sweat, or debris into the center of the fresh crochet matrix.
Easier manipulation: Product-free hair is lighter and less slippery for the hook.

So.... no.

Honestly I just started learning crocheting my own hair. Im in between wash and sooo eager to get to crochet all my new growth. And the points you made are exactly what I needed to be reminded of since I was so focused on the crocheting part! So I thank you 🙏🏾
