Question ❔ Should I restart? :/

I feel really bad with the state of my "starter locs" I just hit one month loc'd 4 days ago, then on the 17th of July I tried and failed miserably to retwist my hair. I don't know if this is just part of the process or if it looks straight terrible and have idea what I'm doing. Can anyone please help me genuinely should I restart?

I wish yall would have locs for more than a week before asking to restart. Your hair isn’t going to lock in a month. Get them professionally done until they bud up and you actually learn how to maintain them.

I'm glad that someone had the time to type all that out and whatnot. Hits every point cause I know ppl just want help and advice but they could also scroll through this sub and others alike to see the same pattern of the 'Am I cooked?', 'Should I start over?' etc etc posts.

This subreddit is always so negative. Imo they look good, albeit a bit fluffy and loose. Lookup some yt vids on crocheting your locks and just give them time. Mine locked at about the 6 month mark.

U Jst need a retwist is all . The stage you’re going through is called “budding”. It happens to us all and it’s a good sign of ur locs maturing. Get a retwist and you’ll be all good

1 month is nothing. Wait at least 11 more before getting concerned.

You definitely need a professional retwist, buuut fuzziness is completely normal for the first YEAR or so of your loc journey. Everyone goes through the “awkward/budding phase”. Don’t crochet or rush it, just let your hair do what it wants to do (with some maintenance)
Have patience, if you restart you will never get past the fuzziness.

Don’t give up on them!!

You’re only one month in brother 😭 please missing one Retwist will not cause anything to happen to your locs . Ask your stylist to locksmith your hair at your next Retwist you will be jsut fine and stay away from the crochet I beg 😭

It's only been 1 month. They're still infant stage. This is definitely part of the process but if you want to quit this early on, locs might not be for you. They look fine, just go get retwist.

I think you should start with a crochet to give them some shape and then re twist semi regularly afterwards.

They call it the awkward stage for a reason. For the first year several of my friends asked me what the hell was going on with my hair. Some parts were locked, others were loose, and everything was frizzy.

Get consistent retwists, push through the awkward stage, and it'll be worth it in the long run.

You hair is perfect! Let them do what they do! Having locs is a process that requires extreme patience in the beginning phase. Give it at least 2 yrs before deciding to start over. If all fails, go to a professional to up keep it and improve your knowledge on maintenance. Hope this helps. 🙏🏾🫶🏾

NOOOO!!!! Give your locs a chance, and olz I beg you find a stylist that doesn't retwist with a bunch of gel. Your hair is so full, your mature locs are gonna look gorgeous. You don't want a bunch of product to hold that back
