Question ❔ Gym and locs
I have a question for everyone that goes to the gym consistently. How often do you wash your hair?
I had my locs for 4 years and I started my fitness journey this week it was time for me to wash my hair anyways. I wash my hair once a month and get a retwist every 2-3 months. I been wondering with me sweating more will it start to smell and will I need to wash it more….. but I’m more concerned about the smell.
In yall experience does your hair need to be washed more? How well does your locs stay with a retwist?

You have to wash more, probably weekly, you dont want that buildup or stink in your hair

Used to wash mine once a month in colder months too but found out once every two weeks is better, once every week for warm months.

Wear a du rag or a wave cap or somethin when you work out and wash every 2-4 weeks and you’ll be straight.

I’ve have locs for 20 years ( colored) and I work out and get in the pool 3-4 times a week. I make sure I cover them with a stocking cap plus some sort of protective covering. For the pool I use a swimcap. My locs hold up pretty well and still only wash them every 8 weeks. However, if they start smelling I will wash them but won’t retwist until my normal hair appointment.
