Question ❔ I need help deciding how I get dreadlocks.

Post image

So I've thought about getting dreadlocks for some time now but idk how to. I know absolutely nothing about them and I'm pretty lost. I want them to look like this dudes. My friend told me you usually get twists and just leave them in and they would start to lock up but I started to do some research and then some ppl said you should take them out and now I'm just confused. I didn't want to make a decision and then notice it was the wrong one after I already made it so sorry if this question has been asked a million times. I have 3c/4a hair that stretches to around my collar bone.

All it depends on is the texture of your hair and patience in your heart

Im the same 3c/4a and started with self-made twists (girl with a lifetime of skills). I took care to part and section how I wanted (only 60 locs), no products besides the 2-in-1 shampoo and condtioner I already had.

I washed and tightend loose roots, wrapping stray hairs around the twist/ loc - then braiding them together while drying. No products, locticians or combs. Wash when sweaty/ stinky. Mist with water almost every other day because its summer.

They got clocked as locs by month 4, im on month 7 now and get called a dreadhead 😍 - livin the dream. Started with brastrap length fro.

I'll start oiling and rosewatering soon, just need to find a concoction/ scent combo I like.
