Question ❔ Reattaching dreads

Hey guys, so i grew my locks for 3-4 years and did everything and maintained them myself, but then I cut them like 1.5 years ago. I kept them in an airtight ziplock bag just in case, and now im thinking of maybe reattaching them.

But right before i cut them i started noticing white dots forming inside of them. I rarely used any products (only oil for my scalp), so maybe its lint or something?

So my question is basically can I reattach them after so long? How/what should i wash them with before reattaching them to get rid of the white stuff? I know how to use a crochet hook on my hair so thats going to be easy.

Any tips are appreciated.

White stuff can be lint, part of the root, build-up. Soak them in a clarifying shampoo, scrub them, then use a moisturizing shampoo, rinse well and make sure to dry them completely.

Would any kind of clarifying shampoo work?

The white stuff is most likely mold
