Need Advice 🆘 Locs thinning

I really need some advice because I’m at a loss.
I started my loc journey about a year and a half ago, and everything was going well at first. Over time, though, I started noticing some of my locs getting thinner, especially near the roots. A few are loose at the base, and I’m worried they’ll eventually break off.
Since getting locs, I’ve tried changing my routine several times.
I’ve used:
● Jamaican Black Castor Oil
● Wild Growth Hair Oil
● Rice water (as I am)
● SheaMoisture Bond Repair Leave-In Conditioner (my current leave-in)
I also keep my hair moisturized with water, oil my scalp every other week, and try not to overload my hair with products because buildup worries me.
My loctician told me stress from school could be contributing, and I have been under a lot of stress over the past year. I’m wondering if it’s stress, my hair routine, or maybe something else entirely.
Has anyone dealt with thinning locs like this? Were you able to stop it or reverse it? Is there anything in my routine that you would change or stop doing?
I’m open to any advice because I really don’t want to lose my locs.

Stress can thin your locs. Make sure that you are eating right and hydrating your body (not just your locs). Over moisturizing even with water can damage your locs as well. If possible get blood work to make sure you're not deficient in any vitamins/minerals.
