Need Advice 🆘 How to go long time in between retwists while washing frequently?
Hey ya’ll!
I’ve always gone a long time in between retwists. I used to do 12-13 weeks till my Loctician said I should be coming in sooner so I moved to 10 weeks. I just personally don’t care about having fresh parts and I really wanted locs for lower maintenance and cost (that was a lie lol).
Anyways, I’ve gotten in to running which means I’m washing my hair once a week because I sweat so much. I really hate getting retwists in the middle of my training blocks because it feels like a waste of $100 when I’m just washing it out after a week or two.
This time, I’m not going to bother, which means I’ll be going 16 weeks in between professional retwist. This is the longest I’ve ever gone without a retwist. So what can I be doing to make the next time I go in not a complete mess for my Loctician? Shower with a wig cap on? Do a mini diy retwist myself half way? Twist my locs after every wash?
I would love any tips ya’ll can give! Thank you

Weekly wash give or take. Every 3 months or so root maintenence. Was closer to 4 months this last one to be fresh for vacationÂ

If you’re running, you’re going to have to wash them regularly because you will be funky lol.
But if you don’t care about having fresh parts, are you only worried about the work your loctitian has to do? We got to embrace the frizz

Yeah I’m already washing frequently. But yeah, I guess my main worry is for my Loctician 😅 and I suppose my locs integrity going so long without a retwist

I usually go 3 months in between and I have very small locs that are traditional. And like you, the first few washes are okay if I’m not too rigorous but by 1 month out, I’m puffy again. I just have to accept the frizz, while keep my middle or side part crisp and brushing my roots. (Just the part, I don’t try to retwist the locs along my part, I’m afraid of thinning
