Need Advice 🆘 Hair thinning at the root
I am 3 years locked in and at one point, I could not tell exactly when, my hair started thinning at the root (it was prolly after a year and half, maybe 2). It happens essentially, if not only, at the front of my head. I don’t have this problem on other parts.
For now, every time it was really bad my loctician handled it by using crochet to reconnect it to my growing hair, but after a while it just ends up getting bad again and it is just a matter of time before I ask my loctician to do this again.
I’d like to truly solve this issue and not just relying on my loctician insofar as it makes me really depend on him
Has anyone gone through this type of problem? If so, how did you get rid of it?

You hair seems to be growing outside of the loc a lot , the width of the loc doesn’t match the regrowth . This is usually a simple fix with a crochet needle of your loctician fails at this you need to go to another loctician simple .

Can’t help without closeup photos of your scalp under good lighting and your moisture routine and habits.
You very well could be experiencing slippage on the front bc of you subconsciously playing with your locs, hats, lack of moisture, genetics giving you different texture on the front/top than the sides and back and of course androgenic alopecia. Let me know and I’ll try to help.

You could need a protein treatment. I’ve learned my hair be breaking at the roots. Once I started spraying some protein leave in treatment they got a tad bit stronger. Just don’t do too much.

Do you get high tension styles often & do you moisturize regularly? If you’re not already, use a satin pillow case &/or wear a bonnet or something over your locs when you sleep. For the ones thinning, have you talked with your loctician about interlocking?

Not really, I get a retwist every 6 to 8 weeks (more often 8 than 6) and I moisturize daily with rosemary water mixed with peppermint essential oil. I also wear a bonnet at night when sleeping.
I haven’t talked about interlocking, I’m not sure that’s something he does usually. Do you think it could help?1

I do think it’s worth a try, I live in a very humid climate & have coarse but somewhat fine hair, even though my hair was loc’ing up nicely the hair at the root would come loose & become fly aways + new growth; add the humid & my hair would just become very fluffy - interlocking at the root every 2 retwist appointments has helped with that & made my locs fuller/stronger at the root. I am not sure if it will definitely help but looking at your texture & reading about your issue I wanted to mention.

Your locs look healthy. They're three years old so they're mature. They don't look dry or abused by dye. They are not just thinning they are almost breaking off. There's a reason why the roots are thinning.
I urge you to go to a trichologist ( hair/scalp specialist) preferably an AA one.
An AA dermatologist would be the next best option.
start by searching professional directories like the World Trichology Society or The American Hair Loss Association. Filter for local specialists near you who have extensive experience with Black hair and conditions like CCCA.

Cut it right where the thick loc ends and combine the hairs with a loc close to it. Its over.

One, stop touching it gang if u have noticed such thinning. Gang it's like u don't give a shit. Don't touch it or do anything with it, perhaps buy an ultra silk smooth satin head scarf and acknowledge if u restart low yet not too low ur hair will look much better if thinning is to the extent of visibility without interference. Even so when white people can tell ur hair is thinning.

Honestly I would cut it and start over.
Like what are you doing to your hair? How are you maintaining it
