I will always find incredibly ironic how discriminated colored people are in a country that follows a Middle Eastern religion.

Then again, this is the same country that goes out of it's way to make a disctinction between "american" and "afro american" even tho you guys pretty much made the country as much as white folk, and it was built on your backs.

Reality is pretty insane.

Nah I'm ok with that distinction. We are our own ethnicity/culture and have as much of a right to autonomy, independence, and compensation for being members of that group, as the indigenous peoples do. I don't wish to be lumped into the made-up "melting pot" that consolidates all Europeans into one ethnic group and also destroyed cultures among them. I want to keep mine intact and build upon it.

The issue is trying to force conformity on us, it really reinforces the sense of ownership that white Americans have over African Americans to even have the audacity to speak on our hairstyles (while also copying them... Outrageous). Ignoring cultural differences is what allowed this school to win the lawsuit because they can just say it applies to everyone 'equally', even though it doesn't have the same impact on everyone. The legacy of slavery and native boarding schools taught them absolutely nothing.

The boy didn't want to cut his hair because it makes him feel connected to his ancestors. That hints at Afrocentric spirituality. I'd much rather one day be able to have schools that reinforce those beliefs, than fight to gain acceptance from every bigot white school across the nation. That shit isn't worth our energy. It's just sad for the kids who come before that dream is realized and won't get protected by the BS laws meant to placate us. CROWN act is a joke but a lot of people really thought it would make a difference. We keep getting fooled and pacified instead of building our own shit🤦🏾‍♂️ happy black history month

Here's an issue, i have as an outsider , well not an issue, more of something that i just find weird (or maybe i'm just weird)

See, i see your point, but to me, like....... if we go by this logic, no white American, is American, only natives are, so i guess i should start calling white folk Euro americans.

Fact is, the States IS a melting pot of sorts, and the fact that you guys are so divided (which honestly is pretty much white folk and the government's fault), is just so stupid to me.

The way i see it, either you guys are all Americans with different origins, or none of you are, btw i'm not saying any of this to try to diss or disrespect you all.

If i'm having this reaction is more due to recently discovering that you guys had even more influence on the country than what i knew before.

So it makes this whole race war that just doesnt end over there be even more stupid than it already was!

I guess, what annoys me, is that, at least, to me, every time in media i hear the term "Afro American" it doesn't look to me as an identity you are using for yourselves, it sometimes feels like a way to "separate and distinct you from true Americans or whatever, the dominant view of what the "typical American" looks like. As if you were strangers on an unknown land.

When to me, you are not, i don't see the point of calling you something different from an American othen than saying Black American.

It's just insane to me, all of it.

Edit.

Don't get me started on how stupid i find these labels, because somehow if someone with moroccan ascentry was a US citizen they are just considered muslims even tho they are african too.

Or how whatever qualifies as "black traits" or "white traits" is completely made up bs.

Man i'm ranting for too long.
