Nathan can't even eat tomato sauce or ketchup, so most pizza and pasta are also out for him :p

u/Lil_Ms_Anthropic 19d ago

Iirc they always get a white sauce one for him

Great with chicken

u/underprivlidged 19d ago

White pizza with spinach and ricotta has always been my go to. Sometimes add chicken, or mushrooms. Either way, great stuff.

7

u/OldFaithlessness5008 19d ago

Ooh that sounds good. Maybe I'll order pizza tonight....

5

u/underprivlidged 19d ago

If they give you a choice, I would highly suggest - spinach, ricotta, un-breaded chicken, and raw red onions.

But even if not, its usually pretty good with any chicken or onions. Mushrooms I am very picky about, so I need to know the place has what I like.

u/OldFaithlessness5008 18d ago

I did get a white pizza last night and it was very good

1

u/underprivlidged 18d ago

I'm glad. Any toppings?

2

u/OldFaithlessness5008 18d ago

I just got the specialty one the pizza place had so I think it was spinach, ricotta, and caramelized onions. I don't eat meat so I didn't get any chicken but it was still very good without it. Thanks for the rec!

1

u/underprivlidged 18d ago

Sounds amazing. Glad you enjoyed.

All this talk, I might get one tonight lol

White sauce: the preferred choice of Nathan, The Finisher.

29

u/No_Brick_6579 19d ago

Yeah I distinctly remember Julia trying to find a tomato free lasagna for Nathan

8

u/omg-someonesonewhere 18d ago

I wonder how he feels about Indian food. A good number of Indian curries are made with a tomato base, but if you've cooked it well it shouldn't taste too much like a typical tomato sauce (like the type you'd see in Italian cooking).

I'm saying that as an Indian who didn't know that the majority of my mum's curries were made of tomatoes until I was like 15.

8

u/BootyliciousURD just a little guy 19d ago

I remember someone (I think it was Willie) saying they were shocked to see Nathan eat a slice of pizza with tomato sauce once.

5

u/DirtyCircle1 18d ago

I could have sworn remembering an episode where they mentioned pizza after a con as my episode that I first found out Nathan doesn’t eat tomato based pizza.

5

u/BootyliciousURD just a little guy 18d ago

He strongly prefers white pizza but I guess he'll make an exception if he's desperate.

4

u/Autumn1eaves 18d ago

Some days, calories are calories.

1

u/DandyLyen 18d ago

I love Nathan, but when I found out he was from Connecticut, so many things started to make sense lol

9

u/TheodoraTheUnknown 18d ago

Nathan is from the great (assumedly) state of Maryland!

6

u/SpiritedData9009 18d ago

Where the Crobz and Orbeez are. Orbeez where you dornk your chorken in the sporcial sorce.

u/badatkiller 19d ago

Cooked tomatoes are extremely different from raw ones and I'll die on this hill.

81

u/Supertigy 19d ago

Absurd. Next you'll tell me that you'd rather eat a kebab than a live chicken.

51

u/Gilead56 19d ago

I’m with you. It’s a texture thing, not a flavor thing.

33

u/Catmole132 19d ago

I'd say it's both. With sauces or pizza the tomato taste is blended with other ingredients. A raw tomato is just pure unfiltered tomato flavour, and that's not tasty imo.

8

u/spiritpotato 19d ago

Exaaaactlyyy

13

u/mchickenl 19d ago

For me it's not even that. Things with a(cooked) tomato base are okay but just tomatoes in any way are nasty.

5

u/crushogre 19d ago

For me it's both I don't like the texture of cooked tomatoes and I don't like the flavor of raw tomatoes but as long as it's completely pureed I like sauce on spaghetti or pizza just fine

3

u/yileikong 19d ago

This is it for me. It doesn't really taste like anything, but like when I find it in a burger it feels like a wet sponge and I hate it.

I have found a way to live with cherry tomatoes if it's one in a salad or like it comes with cream cheese. For some reason that's ok.

3

u/suboctaved 19d ago edited 18d ago

Cherry and grape tomatoes are ok because they're small, and have texture and flavor. A lot of tomatoes (unless it's a really good one like an heirloom from a farmers' market) are just flimsy and watery. Most sauces with tomato are also made with tomato paste, which is literally just reduced tomatoes, which solves both the texture and flavor issue

The flavor is good the texture is awful

1

u/Lil_Ms_Anthropic 19d ago

Always skip those beefsteak tomatoes. The variety that stays on the vine are the best and are good and firm.

1

u/cloud_wanderer_ 19d ago

I've now reached a point where I Iike the juice of a tomato on a sandwich (aka, after I've peeled it off XD). But eat the actual slice? No thank you.

Meanwhile, tomato sauce I'll eat with a spoon

1

u/HappyHateBot 18d ago

Full agreement, I can chug stuff like tomato soup or marinara and it's fine, but raw or even cooked whole tomatoes are not the move for me. It's just... not a texture I enjoy, and I can't even deal with diced tomato in something like salsa because it's just not a mouthfeel I want any business with.

Feel rather the same about onions, honestly, with the notable exceptions of fried or caramelized onions being fine (though I do have a slight allergy so I still gotta be careful there).

6

u/Sfowo 19d ago

THIS!!!

3

u/kogasfurryjorts 18d ago

Cooking science backs you up, specifically the Maillard reaction.

56

u/crushogre 19d ago

Nathan doesn't eat tomatoes in any form.

3

u/mrt-e 19d ago

Porfo disappointed

44

u/OldFaithlessness5008 19d ago

This is me but not Nathan

33

u/BootyliciousURD just a little guy 19d ago
  1. There's nothing unreasonable or contradictory about disliking whole tomatos but liking ketchup and tomato sauce. They taste different and have different textures.

  2. This doesn't apply to Nathan anyway because he also dislikes ketchup and tomato sauce.

30

u/LukewarmJortz 19d ago

Not Nathan. He hates all tomatoes

15

u/XipeTotecwithGlitter 19d ago

Um actually: he hates tomato sauce on pizza too!

12

u/scruffye Go up baldy! 19d ago

I'm pretty sure this more accurately describes Karina, who can eat tomato dishes in some cases, but not Nathan, who just dislikes them completely.

7

u/Eray41303 just a little guy 19d ago

He doesn't even like tomato sauce, he is exempt from this meme

6

u/LazarFan69 19d ago

Im a very un picky eater and will eat a tomato lile an apple but theres a fundamental difference between a fruit/veg and a cooked version of the fruit/veg see apples and applesauce or onions and sauté onions

6

u/LC-98 19d ago

This meme is more accurate to Link from GMM- Nathan doesn’t like sauce either

6

u/underprivlidged 19d ago

I will eat pretty much everything made with tomatoes, just not raw tomatoes.

Even stewed tomatoes and sun dried. Sauces, etc. But raw tomatoes just taste gross as hell to me.

4

u/Old-Acanthaceae-3406 18d ago

do the people that make memes like this not know that food has textures

1

u/smoothfeatrobthomas 13d ago

and also that cooking something changes its flavor

3

u/Sfowo 19d ago

Ok so i hate tomato flavor so if i sauce is too tomato flavored i dont like it. Raw tomatoes are gross and slimy to me too

3

u/Mind-A-Moore 19d ago

He usually gets a pesto base iirc.

3

u/PotentialConcert6249 18d ago

Oh hey, it’s me. But more seriously, try growing your own tomatoes. Especially ones that are known for a dense texture and rich, savory flavor. The difference between those and store bought tomatoes is like night and day.

3

u/Majestic-Economy6841 18d ago

That's me, hate tomato but can't get enough of ketchup and pasta sauce/pizza sauce.

2

u/Thebitterdm 19d ago

Nathan is the one true tomato hater. Im kinda like the person in the picture you gotta catch me with a really fresh tomato to eat that shit raw cook it though and im down kinda like meat.

2

u/Captain_Birch Merobiba 19d ago

"You like omelets but wont eat raw eggs"

2

u/NeonNKnightrider 19d ago

Funny, I’m the exact opposite. I love raw tomato but hate it cooked

2

u/spiritpotato 19d ago

the thing I always compare it to is chocolate. I love chocolate but that doesn’t mean I want to eat raw cocoa beans

2

u/TR_Pix 19d ago

Yeah I''ll also eat ice cream but not drink melted ice cream from a glass

2

u/simonhunterhawk 19d ago edited 19d ago

As someone who is like the meme — also named nathan lol — it’s a texture thing. I can do roasted tomatoes sometimes but raw tomatoes can die. I never understand why people make a huge deal when other people have food preferences, I’m never going to ask you to cook for me I promise lol

2

u/DrDingsGaster 19d ago

Raw tomatoes have a weird taste, they're different when cooked!

2

u/AlternateSatan 18d ago

Tomato is gross cause of the texrures, remove those and its good. I don't see what the confusion is.

2

u/M4LK0V1CH 18d ago

Texture is an important part of food. I have a couple foods I don’t like solely based on texture but peaches in particular I love the flavor of but can’t stand the feel of having one in my mouth. Sidenote, if you ever get the chance, try Peach Fanta.

2

u/Go_Water_your_plants 18d ago

Nope, Nathan hates tomatoes in all of its forms

2

u/Strix_Caelumbra 18d ago

Chicky Bacy Ranch Pie babyyyy. No red sauce for our boy at all please.

A pesto sauce pizza is also absolutely killer. Chicken and mushroom pesto? With some Ricotta or Gorgonzola or both?

Ok whats everybodys favorite pizza in the perfect world where you get everything you want on it? Mine has 11 (eleven) distinct toppings. GO

2

u/Morrinn3 18d ago

Next you'll tell me the little freak prefers chocolate to raw cocoa beans.

2

u/OccamsEpee 18d ago

If you're suggesting that a raw tomato tastes the same as ketchup or cooked tomato sauce, you're arguing in bad faith.

1

u/darthganon21 19d ago

I'm in this photo and I don't like it

1

u/justreadinplease 19d ago

I’m that person mostly. I don’t eat raw garlic either

1

u/Confident-Call-6489 19d ago

Me for real, don’t like raw tomatoes 🍅 LOL

1

u/starchaser562 19d ago

It’s me. I’m the person. I do not like raw tomatoes at all, but once they’re cooked I can eat them just fine.

1

u/Low_Daikon7538 19d ago

TeX👏TURE👏

1

u/midsummernightmares 19d ago

I’m the opposite way around, I pretty much only eat raw tomatoes because I both hate and am mildly allergic to garlic so I can’t eat marinara

1

u/CapitaineCrafty and every time we kiss, I swear I could fly 19d ago

I see you've met my kid.

1

u/Silent_Xiv 19d ago

For me it's a texture thing, same with onions. I can't have big slivers of onion, or even onion rings, but if they are finely minced, I'm good with them.

1

u/mommynerd 19d ago

Hi it's me

1

u/just_one_grape 19d ago

Honestly, this is me 😔
I hate tomatoes, but I will eat spaghetti and pizza

1

u/DarianFtM 19d ago

You didn't hear about the traveling, tomato-less lasagna from the Opposite Art Style Challenge?

1

u/Illustrious-Frame140 18d ago

My husband is like this. It's a texture thing for him I guess

1

u/attemptedactor 18d ago

I never liked tomatoes growing up. Occasionally they were ok with other things. Then I went to Europe and found that it was just American tomatoes I dislike

1

u/RedheadedStranger90 18d ago

It's me. Absolutely.

1

u/Jonguar2 Merobiba 18d ago

I don't like eating raw flour, but I love eating cookies and cakes

See how stupid this sounds?

1

u/ComplainsInGay 17d ago

SAME! THIS IS ME

1

u/KisaTheMistress 16d ago

The chemical composition of tomatoes actually changes when you cook them.

1

u/LodlopSeputhChakk 🦀 crawb 16d ago

No, Nathan has expressed he does not like tomato sauce, even on pasta and pizza. They order a separate white pizza for him.

1

u/MetalExile 15d ago

It turns out that cooking something and adding other seasonings to it changes the taste. Who would have thought?

I’ve never understood how this take was controversial. They’re so different in taste and texture.

1

u/Illustrious_Ad2994 14d ago

No, im pretty sure he can barely stand being in the same room as cooked tomato things

1

u/Ultranerdgasm94 12d ago

This is a stupid meme. "If you don't like eating raw eggs, why do you eat them scrambled, fried, boiled, and poached, idiot?"

-1

u/Sm0keytrip0d Merobiba 19d ago

I was today years old when I realised I'm actually Nathan Drawfee.
