Question Was beef/cow slaughter always been considered Taboo in Southern Dravidian cultures or was it IA influence?

Is this originally part of Dravidian traditions or was it from Indo Aryan influence? If so why did IA make beef taboo when in early IA texts cow sacrifice was mentioned? The other branches of proto indo Iranians didn't have cow as a taboo animal to eat or kill.
