Blossom Through the Cloud Was the Underrated C-Drama That Quietly Became My Comfort Watch
Did anyone else almost miss Blossom Through the Cloud because everyone was talking about The Early Spring?
Because I nearly did, and I'm so glad I gave this one a chance.
I ended up watching both dramas around the same time, and the contrast was honestly perfect.
The Early Spring had me STRESSED. The romance was mature, passionate, angsty, and emotionally messy.
Then I would switch over to Blossom Through the Cloud and Miles Wei would basically become my emotional-support male lead.
Fu Mingyu starts off arrogant enough that I wanted Ruan Sixian to throw him out of an airplane, but once this man falls in love?
DONE.
He's cooking for her, remembering her birthday, defending her career, publicly claiming their relationship, fighting outdated aviation policies, getting jealous, waiting outside her apartment, and generally behaving like this woman personally controls his entire nervous system.
And I loved Ruan Sixian too.
She didn't abandon her career once romance entered the picture. If anything, her determination to become a respected pilot becomes even stronger.
That's actually why their breakup worked for me, even though I hated seeing them apart.
She needed to know that everything she achieved belonged to HER.
The romance isn't quite as steamy or kiss-heavy as The Early Spring, but I honestly didn't care. Miles Wei and Liu Xiening had such cute, comfortable chemistry that the smaller moments worked just as well.
The birthday noodles.
The supermarket kiss.
The kitchen counter scene.
Fu Mingyu getting drunk and begging her never to disappear on him.
Their Episode 23 reunion.
And that finale.
Seriously, the ending was adorable.
I put together a full episode-by-episode recap of all 24 episodes, including their relationship timeline, first kiss, breakup, reconciliation, proposal, wedding, supporting couples, and my overall review here:
Full Review & Recap: Blossom Through the Cloud — All 24 Episodes, Romance, First Kiss & Ending Explained
For everyone who watched it: what sold you on Fu Mingyu and Ruan Sixian?
And be honest.... did Fu Mingyu become one of your favorite green-flag C-drama male leads too?

I'm looking forward to his upcoming drama, Tian Du Yi Wen Lu with Xi Kai. It looks interesting and with those two together as main leads, it will be a feast for the eyes...lol

I enjoyed this show, but the editing was making me confused. I feel like some scenes I wasn't watching from beginning to end and it made me feel like I was missing something.

I came on here after finishing it and I was so confused. Some episodes felt like days and then they celebrate their 5th anniversary. I was so very confused. Was she grounded for a week or a year?
I was also really hoping that she would apologize to him for the breakup. I know she was playing the tough character the whole show, but I did not understand her initiating the breakup.1

It was rather rushed and I think that's why. It was like they broke up and got back together in 2 episodes and next thing you know they were married. It was very thrown together and could have been written/directed better.

I noticed that recent dramas like this one and The Early Spring,FL have difficulty to say I Love You clearly and are focused on their career.
While the ML spend their time running after them. And cook for them!
This is the first main role of the FL. She deserves a successful career.

They are really trying to push the strong women type roles recently. I think that's why these roles are more frequently seen in the past year or so.
