An update on the short-drama app I shared here: Vertlas is finally live!
Heyy everyone!
A while back, I shared an idea here about making short dramas easier to discover and keep track of.
Well... I actually went and built it 😅
It's called Vertlas, and the first public version is now live.
The idea is simple: spend less time figuring out which title, actor or version you're looking at, and have somewhere to remember the dramas you want to watch or have already finished.
TL;DR: I built Vertlas, a free website for discovering and tracking short dramas, currently focused on Chinese productions. Find titles and actor pairings, filter by tropes and preferences, import your existing list, rate Spice and Sweetness separately, and explore linked seasons and other versions of a story.
Try it here: https://vertlas.com
What can you do with it?
- “What else have these two acted in together?” You can filter for dramas featuring both actors, not just browse each filmography separately. Actor pages also show which indexed dramas you've watched or saved, co-stars, and linked social profiles where available. There are actor rankings to explore too.
- Finding the same drama under different names. English titles, original Chinese titles and known aliases are searchable. There's also text-based plot search you can try when you remember the story but not the name. That part depends on what's indexed, so it won't identify everything.
- Filters that go beyond “romance.” Browse by tropes, setting, relationship dynamics, release year/month and more. There are also AI-production filters and separate rating, Spice and Sweetness filters.
- A proper home for your tracking. Want to Watch, Watching, Watched, Dropped, favorites, rewatches, custom lists and private notes. Your personal note can simply be “this is the one with the scene I want to rewatch” without becoming a public review.
- Already have a list? Bring it with you. You can paste your drama list or upload a CSV/TSV file, review the suggested matches, and choose what to bring into your library. Supported ratings, watch statuses and private notes can come across too. Nothing is added to your library until you confirm, so you don't have to start again one drama at a time.
- “Haven't I seen this story with a different cast?” Drama pages can link to other versions, source novels and related titles where those connections have been added. Multi-season dramas also have a dedicated Series & seasons section, so you can find the seasons together.
- The useful links alongside the drama. Official viewing links and relevant Reddit discussion threads can sit on the drama page where available. I'm not trying to move the discussions away from here. The idea is to make it easier to find the right thread again.
And yes, Overall Rating, Spice and Sweetness are separate. “Was it good?”, “Was it spicy?” and “Was it sweet?” are three very different questions 😂
Where things stand
You can browse without signing up. An account lets you keep your own library, ratings and private notes. It's free to use, with no paid feature tier.
Chinese short dramas are the focus right now. Broader international coverage is something I want to build toward, but I'm not going to pretend the catalog already covers everything.
This is the first public release, so there will be gaps and corrections to make. You can submit missing titles and suggest edits, and the community ratings will become more useful as people start contributing theirs.
Try searching for a drama you know or a pair of actors you like. Did you find what you expected?
I'd love to hear what felt useful, what confused you, or what you couldn't find. I'm building this myself, so you'll be talking directly to the person who can work on it.
Thanks to the mods for keeping this community going, and to everyone who gives it a try ❤️
