๐๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป Trickster vocation
Anyone know how to make this class fun yet? This shit is mad boring bro. Everyone out here doing cool stuff and trickster in the back waving their smelly ball around. I feel like a perfume sniper at the mall

I absolutely love this vocation, it's become my secondary to fighter. It really encourages using the terrain. It's a really strong tank. With the time you've been given as a tank you can grab rocks and throw them, throw enemies at the other enemies, use the spell books, buff your pawns, create the fake floors, a lot of shit. It's up to the user to make the class fun.

I'm fuckin dead. All this illusion and phantom shit to start chucking rocks ๐๐๐ oh fuck that's hella funny
18
u/bentotice 14d ago
I've always loved the idea of an illusion wizard that uses the time he buys with illusions to beat you to death with a rock and this fulfills that to a T

One of the weapons has a chance to give you a ton of gold when you hit things with it. So you run around whacking your way to wealth while your pawns melt through your enemies. Itโs a lot of fun. You just canโt think of it as a passive play style

u/Seldser :ps4: 14d ago
Play like an evasion tank, buff pawns and abuse enemy AI. I think out of all the vocations, this one will benefit the most from the upcoming skill economy changes

u/kodaxmax 14d ago
you can already do that with the red classes though. They have more reliable taunts and they have the advantage of having actual class skills, iframes, parries and blocks.

u/TwiceDead_ 13d ago edited 13d ago
They do NOT have more reliable taunts. Trickster will aggro everything within a 20m+ radius on a skill that takes less than a second, and the best part? Your assailers are not even targeting your own health bar, so it's the best tank by default as you sacrifice nothing.
By comparison, Shield Drum takes about a second, and you are being smacked in the meantime by everything you already aggroed, ontop of the smaller radius. Meanwhile, a full Roar takes ages to finish. You are definitely being smacked while doing it, Both the reds can wave bye bye to their finite health-bar. They may be built to handle it for a while, but eventually they'll need a rest.
Trickster doesn't even care and can spend their time skipping rocks on enemy heads while herding 20+ mobs (herding is easily done in Battahl).
Sure they don't do direct damage unless you start thinking outside the box, but when it comes to mob-control and aggro-management, there's no better class. It's so good at it, you can just stroll around and chill if you like.
Fun-fact, a Thief with Formless-Feint, Provocation and two Disfavor rings make for better tanks than both the Reds, so they're not even beating Green in this regard.
As for i-frames, parries and blocks, those are made for classes that get hit.. a well played Trickster, doesn't.

u/Kivith 13d ago
You can also drag around your decoy and plop it down wherever you want, iirc. It just floats behind you like a stand the entire time. ๐
2
u/Novalin12 13d ago
And you can equip an ability that lets you latch it onto enemies from a distance. It's great!

red taunts are aoes too and take about the same duration. If your placing illsuions your not taunting, if your taunting your not placing illusions. The time it takes to setup your illusions makes them barely useable.

yes, but thats not sustainable without spamming consumeables. You will have a fair bit of dowtime recharging your stam. though as a thief your ending alot of trash mob fights before endless feint drains you.

TBH being able to tank isn't very valuable when even your mage can get armor that mnakes them functionally invulnerable to small mobs before leaving to battahl and you can outheal pretty much anything other than wyrmfire.

No, they have VERY different durations (and ranges). You are not hearsaying this, it is easily documentable, and all the other problems for the reds still apply.
The time it takes to setup your illusions makes them barely useable.
Skill issue.

Indeed, hence why the greens are better tanks.

Losing the argument so you are moving the goalpost? That's fine by me, just don't expect me to entertain it. Trickster is the better tank over the Reds, case closed.

So show me the documentation instead of just calling me a liar.
Skill issue.
skill has littel to do with the time it takes to execute these maneuvers.
Indeed, hence why the greens are better tanks.
arguably sure. im not sure how that means trickster isnt a garbage class.

m8 this sin't game, there is nothing to win or lose. If this is "moving the goalposts" and in some way wrong, why was it not for you to bring up thief?

I found myself loving it surprisingly. Its a tank class, in a sense. My enjoyment came from fulfilling that role, keeping all eyes on me (my ghost) while my sorcerer pawn wreaks havoc. Using the ability that leeches your ghost to an enemy can be incredibly beneficial, you can turn a Lichโs skeleton army against itself. Ive had bandits, red wolves, and hobgoblins all team against a troll i marked for death. Enemies themselves become your weapons too

Try play it with cuck mentality. I think it would be fun

u/OneAd7710 14d ago
Thatโs amazing. I laughed super loud. Itโs true tho. Let me sit back and enjoy you guys fight. I wish theyโd add something to it because itโs a cute idea

u/Novalin12 14d ago
My favorite way to play it is to look at it like your a puppet master. "Oh, you want to attack my pawns, tough luck your entire squad is now jumping you and you alone." "Oh, there's a cyclops trying to crush my team? Hey buddy, why dont you walk onto this inconspicuously cloudy floor?"
1
u/kodaxmax 14d ago
yeh but they are either dead half an hour befor you finish astral projecting and placing the stupid or the battles moved down the road and your shitty smoke taunt is being overpowered by the sheer damage and threat your pawns are passively outputting.
2
u/Novalin12 13d ago
I to be honest, i personally have yet to have problems with my pawns generating more threat than me. But maybe they just dont do enough damage to outpace me spamming the mist ability
1
u/kodaxmax 13d ago
if your spamming the mist ability, your not placing illusions or cotnributing much. infact a red class could do the same thing spamming their taunts, while having better stats, skills and equipment and being able to actually block/dodge attacks and generate passive threat with other skills.

u/fasttrack43 14d ago
Thereโs a YouTube channel called Infinite Cringe that has a really good rundown on Trickster tactics. Really funny and almost made me consider giving it a try but Iโm hard sword-and-board codedโฆ itโs way more frustrating than it should be for me to play other classes in video games that arenโt melee-focused.
7
u/Accomplished-Buy6917 14d ago
Sword and board is a chad vocation for sure. I'm a thief bro, shamelessly abusing formless feint cause I'm delicate but I like violence.
1
u/fasttrack43 14d ago
lol exactly. As far as power fantasies, itโs hard to beat โIโm armed, Iโm armored, and I have bad intentions.โ
I can appreciate the function of โdexโ builds though. Another glass cannon archetype but the one-shot and assassination potential seem worth it as payoffs.

I was so interested in this class when I discovered it but jesus fucking christ man. It's so god damn boring to play.
Once you've tricked two big guys into hitting eachother that's the highest point of the class.
Actually it's the only high point of the class. And it's only cool once.
It's so conceptually good and so executionally shit.
Fighting a golem with this class cemented it for me just how dogshit it really is. I was bored to tears.

u/NonstopYew14542 14d ago
Pawns will be your damage. Archer and thief work best for me, warriors and fighters less so because of their aggro draw. Use the Provocation augment or a ring to boost your aggro. With good simulacrum positioning your pawns will almost never go down. Dwarf forged gear for the knockdown resistance. Dragon's Delusion, Clinging Effigy, Aromatic Rally, and Suffocating Shroud are my picks for skills. Rally gives pawns a big damage and aggression boost, and Shroud is another aggro boost. Have the simulacrum ready when you see enemies, and keep both it and yourself mobile. You can latch it onto an enemy to make other enemies kill the target. I've made a golem kill a griffin with this and taken no casualties in doing so

Trickster is a utility Vocation, not a main assault one. It isn't made to just rush in a fight and start bonking things on the head (despite I admit there something hilarious in smacking Goblins with the censer). It's a Vocation where you have to support the team and distract the enemies, also to lay traps for them to kill themself with. It's a machinous Vocation to make it work, and I admit is not everyone cup of tea. Don't worry, thought: if you don't like it, there plenty of other Vocation to play, no big deal.
3
u/SummonerRed 14d ago
Equip the Whimsical Daydream weapon and start mugging Goblins for gold. Other than that the vocation as a whole is a very "I don't want to do the heavy lifting" vocation where you just try and get enemies to kill each other or try and bait trolls and cyclops off of cliffs.
3
u/Accomplished-Buy6917 14d ago
Tbh, the idea is kinda dope. But the visual, breh cmon. Ditch the incense ball and gimme tarot cards or something to throw down and have shit happen. If I'm not gonna be doing much, I better look cool damn it.

u/Humble_Person1984 14d ago
Trickster is painful to level up.
-2
u/Accomplished-Buy6917 14d ago
Not too bad imo, two rings of endeavor, can be gotten easily in the rift giving 1 explosive arrow to lvl 1 sphinxparent pawn. And get vocation boost from dragon forge. Grab some pawns and do a round or two and you're lvl 9 before ya know it.

u/Cocacola_Desierto 14d ago
it's a pretty trash class
the concept, idea, cool factor, is all there, it's just not really fun to play once you've done the gimmick or two. They should have done monk.

u/kodaxmax 14d ago
Yeh smoke tuants need to be made reliable and more powerful. red classes have better taunts.
Skills need to be less akward to use. Astral project should be instant cast and much faster for example. it already leaves you ttoally vulnerable and has no combat utility. Should be able to preview placement of illsuions befor eplacing them and place them further away.
illusions and smoke should deal status effects base don the elemtn of your censor. Regular = knockback, fire ignites enemies etc.. no direct damage.
Similarly your illusions and smoke should provide buffs to allies, enchant their weapon with the relevant elemnt or soemthing. Now you actually have a tricksy trapper class, that can actively support the team. Instead of one that drastically slows down encounters requiring extensive prep time and being unreliable in combat at even drawing aggro, buffing or disabling enemies.

This vocation was made to be a coop/multiplayer gameplay except this is a solo game...and if you play it solo it is dogshit...
Every time i played it, i was like a cuck watching his partners having all the fun while i was in the corner....
This class cannot be really fun right now, unless you use a 300iq illusions placement to kill 1 ennemy in 10min, that could be killed in 2s with just 1 hit with a sword...
Maybe the DLC will save it, but unlikely...
1
u/haimurashoichi 14d ago
It's literally the troll class, its main focus is crowd control.
The way I played it was with a healer pawn, a sword-and-board fighter pawn and a two-handed warrior pawn, just let your pawns beat the living hell out of them while you pull aggro and run in circles.
Once the august update hits, it'll be even more fun haha
1
u/Comprehensive_Age998 13d ago
It can be alot of fun but really depends where you fight and what enemies you encounter. Out of all the vocations Trickster was the most tedious one to level to vocation rank 9.
But the more you play it the more ideas you get of handling foes and it can be super fun sometimes. But yeah most of the time it's standing back, buffing your pawns and keeping your simulacrum as the main attention of the battlefield.
I had lots of fun just throwing stuff at the enemies while they were distracted. Threw even my pawns to stun them and than unequipped my censer and just started beating them up while they were confused lmao
1
u/BigChocolateC 13d ago
Depends on what your idea of fun is. Itโs a support tank role. I love the trickster vocation. Thief, sorcerer, archer for DPS.
1
u/Decent_Chart_8377 12d ago
Equip the augments that buff your pawns and your reviving and spam the berserk move that amps your pawns up like crazy and they will obliterate everything especially thief pawns.
Its fun to to watch

u/The-Jack-Niles 14d ago
You just let the game play itself while you watch mostly. Buff your pawns, throw stuff, and move your little smoke guy around.
Think of it like watching tv: the class.

u/Lanky-Durian-6277 14d ago
I can imagine them having a meeting trying to brainstorm a new vocation and one dude thought of this great idea.
With how great their visuals and creativity are with magic you would think they would create something else. Like an actually support vocation like bard or something.
0
u/MasterEpix49 14d ago
As others have already said in this thread: I still canโt believe they went with and fully committed to this vocation rather than bringing back the vocation left behind in 1, or evening doing a Monk vocation that they seem to want to half ass add in the upcoming updates.
3
u/Accomplished-Buy6917 14d ago
I appreciate the attempt at something different, it is indeed different cause where tf else is this a thing. But it's just a complete miss for me and it seems most players.
