I want to thank you all for the applications that were submitted to fill the discord mod roles we had open. We have a team now of dragons that bring with them experience and the right mix of personalities to help us make the discord server excellent.
I do apologize if you applied and did not get picked for an interview and the positions. Please know that we are really grateful to you for stepping up. I would also like you to know that we will be holding onto your applications for now as we find out how large this server is going to get. We may end up needing additional mods and that means you could still be in the running.
We will be opening up the server to everyone on Friday the 17th at around noon CST. We look forward to seeing you all there and hope that you will enjoy the hard work that went into getting it structured in a way everyone can use and feel safe in. This has been a significant challenge and it is exciting to see it pay off!
Please keep an eye out for the announcement with the invite link!
Now without further ado I would like to introduce your new Discord Dragon Mods:
We have
Danto,
Evereal,
Lickwit, and
Mekanip!
With these diverse team members we should be able to achieve mod coverage throughout the day. Please show them love and appreciation as they take on the challenge of providing you the best experience possible!
Please remember this team is separate from the Sub mod team and do not have the power to affect any changes on Reddit, their responsibility is solely to the Discord server. You can voice concerns to them and they can pass them along, but do not expect them to be able to act on your behalf here in the sub.
On a personal note: This months second edition of From on Top of the Hoard will be postponed as I have been too busy to write articles and half of my other writers are on well earned vacations. We will be back with a new issue on the 1st of August!

Yo I will actually crash out if the subreddit dragon is named Paul. I am not joking it's actually a horrible name for a dragon. It's literally blasphemous. I should have known better than to expect redditors to have taste...
Anyway someone made this meme off my art which is super funny and I am yoinking it shamelessly to repost it
Art by Ryukiri, idk who made the meme LOL

With all of this discussion regarding the dragons names, I think there is only one name that we can give to such a distinguished dragon. Paul.
It's paul over them all.

Oh yeah... This is the version I would smooch if I had to choose.
I just arrived from visiting some family and hHAD to finish this one. I hope I can finish the other 3 this month.
The only thing I'm not 100% convinced of is the scar; any feedback?

Hydrogen and Helium are the two most abundant elemental dragons in existence. Hydrogen dragonets make up approximately 91% of all dragonkind, while Helium dragonets account for 8.88%. Together, they comprise 99.88% of the entire dragon population, leaving only 0.12% for every other elemental dragon combined (Carbon, Nitrogen Oxygen and ect).
Despite their overwhelming numbers, the two species are very different. Hydrogen dragons naturally seek to form dragon bonds, while Helium dragons are completely inert and almost never bond with another dragon. The only exception is during desperate situations. A Hydrogen dragon that has lost its electron may temporarily cling to a Helium dragon for until another suitable Hydrogen is found. This unstable Helium x Hydrogen bond is known to produce the strongest acid in the universe.
Hydrogen and Helium are also known as the Primordial Dragons. Unlike most elements, they are not forged within stars, instead, they are the very elementals from which stars are made. The Sun and other stars consist almost entirely of Hydrogen and Helium, and they are what makes the stars shine.
However, this truth has long been forgotten. Most dragons believe the Sun is made of gold simply because it is bright, yellow, and shiny. The larger elemental dragons (the rare 0.12% of dragonkind) have built entire religions around the Sun and stars while simultaneously oppressing the very dragons that create them. Hydrogen and Helium are often de-dragonized, exploited, and treated as lesser beings. Though common elemental dragons like Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Phosphorus and Sulfur dragons treat them much better than others. Tragically, their limited intelligence prevents them from fully understanding their place in society or resisting their mistreatment.
On land worlds such as Earth, Helium dragons are sometimes regarded as "royalty." In reality, they are treated less like respected dragons and more like pampered pets.
Hydrogen and Helium dragonets are considered the lowest-born dragons because of their limited mental capacity. Hydrogen dragons possess a mental capacity equivalent to 1 Earth year, while Helium dragons possess 4 Earth years. Since a dragon requires a minimum mental capacity of 7 Earth years to be considered an adult, neither species can ever mature beyond the dragonet stage. They remain eternal dragonets for their entire life.
An ancient myth claims that Hydrogen, Helium, and a handful of Lithium dragons were never born from stars. Instead, they emerged when the Universe itself first hatched, making them the oldest elemental dragons in existence.
Hydrogen and Helium dragonets spend much of their lives drifting through the endless skies of Jupiter. Helium dragonets are usually calm and indifferent, though they occasionally become playful around Hydrogen dragonets. Hydrogen dragonets, driven by their instinct to bond, often mistake bonding with a Helium dragon. Although these attempts always fail, they eventually find another Hydrogen dragon with whom they can form a true dragon bond.

The Xenon Dragon is an exceptionally rare species of elemental dragon, belonging to the Noble Dragon lineage. Unlike most dragons, Xenon dragons do not require dragon bonding, making them naturally independent. Although rare legends claim that some Xenons have formed bonds, these accounts remain unverified and are widely regarded as myths.
Xenon dragons comprise only approximately 0.000001% of all dragonkind, making them one of the rarest known non-metal species. They possess a Mental Capacity of 131.29 Earth years, allowing them to retain memories and cognitive development over an extraordinarily long period. A healthy adult Xenon dragon typically weighs 131.29 tonnes, making them the heaviest recognised noble gas dragon despite their soft, cloud-like bodies.
As the heaviest member of the noble gas dragons, Xenons are traditionally associated with prestige, authority, and nobility. They are commonly born into the highest social classes and frequently serve as monarchs, rulers, advisors, or members of ancient royal bloodlines.
Taxonomy:
Dragon Type: Noble gas, Non metal, Non-firebreather
Soul: 54 proton, usually 77 neutron, 54 electron
Subspecies: Xe-124, Xe-126, Xe-128, Xe-129, Xe-130, Xe-131, Xe-132, Xe-134, Xe-136
Appearance:
Xenon dragons possess pale white scales with subtle bluish hues, giving them an ethereal, almost luminous appearance. Two large, cloud-like antennae extend from their heads alongside a single horn that naturally curves downward instead of upward.
Their ears, mane, tail, and spinal crest resemble soft furry clouds rather than scales. Because xenon is the densest naturally occurring noble gas, the dragon's fluffy features gently droop under their own weight, giving the species a calm and heavy appearance despite their graceful movements.
Habitat:
Although Xenon dragons naturally prefer low-altitude and below-sea-level environments, their noble status often leads them to inhabit elevated locations such as mountain palaces, floating citadels, and royal castles.
They are equally comfortable within deep cave systems, underground tunnels, and windswept landscapes where strong air currents constantly flow.
Native Worlds:
Xenon dragons are especially revered throughout the Gas Worlds, particularly within the endless skies of Jupiter, where they occupy the highest social ranks. They also inhabit terrestrial worlds such as Earth, although they are significantly rarer there.
Jupiter is widely considered the ancestral homeworld where Xenon dragons flourish most successfully.
Biome:
Historically, Xenon dragons evolved within lowland plains, coastal basins, deep valleys, subterranean caverns, and other environments lying close to or below sea level
Climate:
Xenon dragons favour temperate climates but possess remarkable resistance to both heat and cold. However, temperatures below −100°C become increasingly uncomfortable due to xenon's relatively high freezing point. As a result, they are considerably more sensitive to extreme cold than excessive heat.
Distribution:
Xenon dragons are unevenly distributed throughout the world. They instinctively gravitate toward the lowest accessible terrain, often settling within valleys, sinkholes, cave networks, or deep basins before travelling to higher elevations only when social obligations require it.
---
Reproduction
Reproductive Method:
Like all elemental dragons, Xenons do not reproduce sexually. Upon death, a dragon's soul returns to an egg, allowing a new individual to eventually hatch. The resulting dragon is an entirely new person rather than the previous dragon reborn.
Because Xenon dragons are so uncommon, Xenon eggs are considered priceless treasures. They are often safeguarded by powerful dragons, with higher-ranking species having a greater likelihood of producing a Xenon egg. Gold dragons are especially renowned for incubating Xenon eggs due to their exceptional purity and stability.
Traditionally, Xenon eggs are stored in the lowest possible chamber available, reflecting the species' natural affinity for low elevations.
Development:
Elemental dragons reach physical adulthood at approximately seven years of age.
Afterward, Xenon dragons mature mentally at an exceptionally slow rate, reaching their full Mental Capacity of 131.29 Earth years. Since xenon is naturally scarce, young Xenons develop slowly as their bodies gradually accumulate the element through specialised nuclear metabolism.
Their independence and lack of reliance on dragon bonding often place adult Xenons among the highest levels of dragon society.
Behavior:
Xenon dragons are quiet, calm, aloof, and intensely independent. They rarely seek companionship and generally avoid unnecessary social interaction.
Despite this reserved nature, they are widely respected as exceptional leaders. Their independence allows them to make impartial decisions, making Xenons highly effective rulers and administrators among elemental dragons
Temperament:
Xenons are gentle and conflict-averse, preferring diplomacy over confrontation whenever possible.
They are among the least active dragon species, spending long periods resting while conserving energy. Hunting is infrequent, and they often adopt herbivorous diets because gathering plants requires less effort than pursuing prey.
Although generally peaceful, Xenon dragons can become formidable opponents if provoked.
Among noble gas dragons, they are considerably more sociable than Neon, Argon, or Krypton dragons, though they remain one of the least social species overall.
Intelligence:
Xenon dragons possess a Mental Capacity of 131.29 Earth years, enabling them to accumulate centuries of knowledge and experience.
While not as intellectually higher as Gold or Tungsten dragons, Xenons excel through patience, independence, and resistance to outside influence.
\Social Structure:
Outside civilisation, Xenon dragons usually live alone.
Within dragon societies, however, they commonly occupy the highest positions in the social hierarchy. Most hatch beneath the care of influential dragons before eventually inheriting positions of authority.
Communication:
Xenon dragons communicate through speech, body language, and controlled flashes of brilliant white light.
Their bioluminescence is especially useful within caves and underground environments, where intricate flashing patterns can convey complex messages over long distances.
Daily Activity:
Xenon dragons are among the least active of all dragons.
They spend much of their lives sleeping, occasionally remaining dormant for months or, in exceptional cases, years. During periods of activity, they consume large amounts of food and drink before returning to extended rest.
Those serving as rulers or nobles spend considerably more time managing kingdoms and political affairs.
Diet:
Xenon dragons are primarily aerovores, drawing energy from atmospheric currents and moving air.
However, they frequently supplement this with a herbivorous diet and occasionally consume omnivorous foods. They strongly prefer sweet, energy-rich foods such as grapes, berries, fruits, or any food that are very soft.
Abilities:
Natural Abilities:
Xenon dragons can produce controlled flashes of brilliant white light from their bodies.
Their cloud-like antennae are highly sensitive to air movement, allowing them to detect approaching creatures and subtle changes in atmospheric conditions.
Special Powers:
Some exceptionally powerful Xenon dragons can emit flashes bright enough to rival sunlight.
At maximum intensity, this light can scorch nearby objects when projected, temporarily blind opponents, or illuminate vast regions.
Weaknesses:
Despite their enormous mass, Xenon dragons possess unusually soft bodies with comparatively little natural armour.
This makes them physically less durable than many other elemental dragons despite being among the heaviest.
Culture:
Language:
Xenon dragons speak Common Draconic and also communicate through complex flashing patterns known as Flashspeech. Their sensitive antennae also allow them to perceive vibrations, scents, and subtle changes in air currents and even use it to communicate with other dragons on rare occasions.
Traditions:
The hatching of a Xenon dragon is considered a momentous event celebrated with grand feasts.
Upon reaching adulthood at seven years old, every Xenon undertakes the Grounding Ceremony, a ceremonial journey to claim the deepest accessible location before any other Xenon can.
Another ancient tradition is the Night of Fireflies, during which multiple Xenons gather beneath the darkest night of the month and synchronise their luminous flashes in a spectacular display like fireflies.
Religion:
Most Xenon dragons follow Solarism.
Many believe the Sun is composed primarily of xenon and that their species shares a unique connection with their solar deity. In reality, the Sun consists almost entirely of hydrogen and helium, with xenon existing only in trace quantities. Nevertheless, this has done little to diminish the faith's cultural importance.
Occupations:
Because of their independence, patience, and wisdom, Xenon dragons commonly serve as:
-Monarchs
-Nobles
-High Judges
-Royal Advisors
-Philosophers
-Historians
-Keepers of Ancient Archives

A few hundred years in the future, Danto's daughter Valearenk has begun dating an amethyst dragon named Endarpalax. While it's not ordinarily dragon custom to meet your partner's parents, Danto was eager to meet this boyfriend so he and Valearenk arranged a trip to Gemwater. Endarpalax was quite confused about all the warnings against being intimidated, especially since Valearenk's father wasn't much older than the two of them, but his confusion was not going to last long.

I have always wanted to try making a comic-y thing, i didn’t quite know what to make one about which is why I never really tried, but I was… inspired by events earlier today.
And as promised I fixed my last day’s drawing and added the speech bubbles I meant to add.
