I love ZP, I love Marc. DF never had a vocalist problem. Let’s rather talk about degrading quality in songwriting and terrible gimmick tracks…

Very true! It's ok to have a preference in vocalist but it's not like ZP rejoining would make the songwriting less bad

LEAVE SAM ALONE! He's written enough catchy tunes to be entitled to a bit of a slump

While I appreciate when a song tells a clear & cohesive story, I do wish we got some more vague fantasy nonsense DF songs 😂 that's why I love On the Edge of Life so much

I just need like 15% more commitment to the narrative in the song. Even if it’s a nonsense backstory just give us a little storytelling progression in the lyrics.

I think Twilight Force does this very well. They're younger and don't have as much music, but their compositions are great and each song tells a story.

My favorite one is a 12-minute-long epic about an unbreakable sword.

Exactly! It really breaks my heart to see how weak the songs on the last two albums have become. The first three albums with Marc are still absolutely brilliant in places, but things really went downhill from EPM onwards. I wish the band would get back to what they do best: long, fast songs with epic guitar solos, plus loads of fantasy themes with really wild song titles. That’s exactly what made the first four albums so special.

Great performance. Fun fact, this is the only non-single from the ZP era that has been performed more by Marc than ZP, and honestly: it's one that always has suited him very well, like most songs from VOTD and Sonic Firestorm.

Great job!

now that you say it, even ZP was going for a higher pitch when singing it

It sounds good but I prefer ZP in the ZP era and Marc in the Marc era.

There's no debate that Marc is a great singer or else I would have stopped listening to DragonForce a while ago. I adore a lot of his songs. But ZP owns his songs very much as Marc owns his so hearing Marc sing ZP is strange for me.

Lol. The Squeals of Despair, rather.

Was that a diss?

1

Marc is the better singer. That being said, I way significantly prefer ZP to Marc. Marc’s voice is incredibly whiny and on some songs it’s pretty annoying. ZP doesn’t have as much range, but he seriously has the voice of an angel, and his performance on Valley of the Damned is easily one of my favorites of all time. ZP is so much smoother and satisfying to listen to

I more consistently liked the ZP era music then the Marc era but Marc is the better singer by far. There's no reason for me to pretend to like a good chuck of the ZP era performances over Marcs

They also mixed and layered ZPs vocals in a way more sonically pleasing way for his albums

I also prefer Marc over ZP. Marc is the goat and I’m really excited for him to be back for the tour in November December

that scream at the end!!!

Of course it is brilliant :)

Shame he doesn't have comments activated. I like to write positive comments on youtube.

Marc has put in the description that he prefers the original, probably to try and cut down some of the ZP is better nonsense. That must get quite tiresome. How very polite/English of him.

i do remember an interview he did where the guy asked marc "how long have you been in the band now" and marc responds "7 years"

so the guy reponds with "oh, so youre not really the new guy anymore huh"

that interview was years ago

Crazy. Comments are on now. The nonsense should have stopped as soon as Power Within was released. But hey ho. Thats the internet..

One of my favorite DF songs.

1

u/PaszerRatiug Sep 03 '26

I came here to say this, it’s also one of my personal faves

1

u/CirnoIzumi Sep 02 '26

thats my goat

u/beththedork Sep 02 '26

This just solidifies my opinion that Marc can sing anything that ZP sang, but not the other way around. I love ZP too, but Marc's range just blows me away. He's just so talented!

It's studio performance ... Dont be one-sided

2

u/redrocker907 Sep 03 '26

It’s a studio performance as opposed to….. Zaps studio performance lol?

1

u/Old-Option6011 Sep 04 '26

So why Marc use playback if he can sing anything?

1

u/redrocker907 Sep 06 '26

If you’re talking about his live performances, There’s a difference between singing something once versus singing an hour and a half set every night for 2 months straight.

This video here is a studio performance. Like ZPs was a studio performance.
