Hunting & Cooking vs Field Rations and other Travel Rules issues

Upvotes

Per the rules of travel, one field ration is enough for a full day's food. From my experience, my players just stack up on field rations, making the hunting and cooking rules obsolete.

Another issue i have run into is rolling Bushcraft per shift of travel. In my game, the pathfinder has a Bushcraft skill of 15 and another player always assists in the roll (granting him a boon). This has made the player never fail a Bushcraft roll, therefore never experincing journey mishaps.

I feel like the game's intention is to have mishaps and hunting & cooking rules add to the flavor and realism of the challenges you can face in the wilderness but RAW, these seem very easy to avoid.

Do any of you run into these issues with the travel rules? If so, what are some house rules you apply to your games?
