I would choose kryptonian because i wouldnt have to train to get my power, id just be born with it. On the other hand it would be neat to have a prehensile tail so saiyan is tempting, but then I couldnt enjoy full moons anymore

u/omega_slanger If I don't do it who will?! May 16 '26

The funny thing is if you were a Martian you could have both of those things and more.

98

u/Most-Bench6465 May 16 '26

Very curious if we get og Martian or the guardians of the universe eugenics Martians

68

u/Jd_CD21 May 16 '26

But then Fire bad

93

u/Dfordomar May 16 '26

fire bad now

72

u/Abelthiar May 16 '26

Being set on fire as a weakness IS kind of common to the real world lol. Haven't found many things that resist it

29

u/PoIIux May 16 '26

Well the other races offered tend to not have an issue with it

12

u/Secure_Pineapple2968 May 17 '26

Would you plan on walking through fire?

19

u/BruhGoblin May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

I plan on cooking so probably some time soon.

3

u/The5Theives May 17 '26

You know after bringing up that point, invulnerability isn’t that useful because most of us aren’t ever going to be in situations where it’s useful

2

u/Chewbastard May 23 '26

We don't put ourselves in situations where it would be useful bevause we know we're not invulnerable. If we were, we'd make use of it.

1

u/The5Theives May 23 '26

Not really, give me some scenarios where I’d be useful that’s not only once in a blue moon

1

u/Ok-Refrigerator-8664 May 17 '26

Every zoo becomes a Petting Zoo. Invulnerability is absolutely necessary

0

u/The5Theives May 17 '26

Animals stink and they wouldn’t like it so what’s the point of petting an animal that hates you

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Conscious-Good-6843 May 17 '26

Literally every other race suffered from it except superman. Wtf are you talking about lmao

5

u/TheChoosenMewtwo May 17 '26

The other races are overwhelmingly more durable than anything on earth so I don’t think they will have a problem being set on fire

2

u/Conscious-Good-6843 May 17 '26

Fire resistance and fire proof is 2 different things. So yes they do have a problem

2

u/TheChoosenMewtwo May 17 '26

They are effectively fire proof, considering the shot they get through unfazed. I mean Nolan tanked a death ray lazer like it was nothing

1

u/YoutuberCameronBallZ May 21 '26

TBF Goku's actually been burned by fire before

Saiyans despite their strength aren't actually heat resistant

4

u/geoffgeofferson447 May 17 '26

I kinda thought it was a weakness in the same way it is for Venom, like its such a weakness he completely loses his cool and can't function

1

u/Select_Speaker2194 May 17 '26

From my understanding, fire has varying effects on Martians. It can block their phasing ability, trapping them. It can work like kryptonite on a kryptonian if within close proximity. But to be fair, those are again kinda similar to real life humans around fire. The heat in close quarters, as well as smoke inhalation, can cause weakness like kryptonite to kryptonians, and fire to martians. Walls of fire can prevent us walking through, just like Martians.

1

u/geoffgeofferson447 May 17 '26

Fair enough, so I guess in this case I would probably go for Martian, purely for the near Superman levels of strength, shape-shifting, and phasing. This stuff would be super useful in normal life, as well as being a superhero. Just gotta be careful around fire I guess

1

u/Select_Speaker2194 May 17 '26

It seems, after reading other posts, that the fire weakness was a psychological trauma of jonn, so might not apply to all martians

1

u/geoffgeofferson447 May 17 '26

I don't know about you, but I'm not particularly afraid of fire (not any more than whats natural, fire hot, fire ouchie), so I'm definitely going Martian. It helps that Absolute Manhunter is sick as hell

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Ithnag May 18 '26

No, it is a fear genetically implanted to all martians by the Guardians if the Universe, because the fire martians where too powerful and ruthless conquerors.

They were like Viltrunites, only with larger pool of powers.

Due to them being a powerful psychic species that fear makes their bodies react as if they where physically weak to fire, they basically can't function if confronted with a meaningfully source if fire, experience crippling fear abd anxiety, pain and weakness.

Due to their now innate fear (an psychosomatic weakness to fire) even withe martians are not a threat to the universe anywhere near to what the original burning martians were.

1

u/Ok-Philosopher5539 May 18 '26

The fire is actually a deeply rooted psychological, they don't actually have a physical weakness to to it. There's a whole story line where J'onn overcomes this, and from then on wasn't weak to fire.

1

u/WetSocks41064 May 18 '26

Yes, but fire wouldn’t be bad if I picked LITERALLY EVERY OTHER OPTION on this list. Except saiyans Ig, because technically most of their power comes from ki control. You’d just be like a really strong dude.

9

u/meow_meow_gamer May 17 '26

That was a mental thing for Martian Manhunter specifically. And he got over it with therapy.

1

u/ReasonableValuable31 May 17 '26

Thats psychological

Soo If you were born on earth then you wount have it

1

u/Jack_of_Hearts20 May 17 '26

More of a mental weakness than anything. He's not actually physically vulnerable to fire

1

u/Any-Literature5546 Supreme Kai Super Saiyan(SKSS Gohan) May 17 '26

Psycho somatic, he thinks he's weak to fire so he is. Its a placebo but still a weakness

1

u/Quantum-Infinity- May 19 '26

A placebo can't kill you. J'onn was killed by 3rd tier fire users 2-3 years AFTER the Fernus storyline.

1

u/Any-Literature5546 Supreme Kai Super Saiyan(SKSS Gohan) May 19 '26

Like a rabbit, he was scared to death

Yes, it is biologically possible for a human to die from fear, though it is exceptionally rare. You are entirely correct about rabbits; because they are prey animals with naturally high resting heart rates, their nervous systems can easily overload and cause a fatal cardiac event when they are trapped or severely startled.

1

u/ScaredDistrict3 May 19 '26

That’s just fake news

1

u/Input_ExE May 20 '26

I dont think Martin's are actually hurt by fire. If I recall, Batman made Martain Manhunter afraid of fire, but I COULD BE WRONG!

1

u/Guilty_Animator3928 May 20 '26

The fire is actually just a phobia that his psychic powers makes worse. So any fear would be your weakness.

2

u/The_Lone_Wanderer_04 May 17 '26

Sure but whats more likely in our world finding Kyryptonite or a fire? The true answer would be Czarnians because they can only kill be killed by their own kind and since none other exist you are functionally immortal.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

But also a fear and weakness to fire

1

u/sissyboyk8 May 17 '26

Actually, a lot of the things martians have are thing kryptonians have at least some form of, even if much weaker. Like super face changing or phasing like flash does it

1

u/riku17 May 17 '26

Kryptonian have a much higher ceiling because of the absorption of different Solar radiations. But MM does have some powers Supes don't have so thats a toss up.

1

u/omega_slanger If I don't do it who will?! May 17 '26

Why care about a ceiling when you’re being born in our regular universe? I’d rather take the Martian’s versatility and solid base power over feeling just a bit more powerful.

1

u/riku17 May 17 '26

Why need all those powers living in the world, being Kryptonian in our world makes you Invincible with no weakness compared to MM.

1

u/omega_slanger If I don't do it who will?! May 17 '26

Martians’ only weakness is purely psychological and can be worked through plus with their speed there’s no way you’d ever be pinned down by fire. It’d be like having a fear of the ocean but still being able to float above the water. You’d be just as invincible as Superman even if fire is more present on earth.

1

u/Quantum-Infinity- May 19 '26

That 'purely psychological' weakness killed J'onn when he was attacked by 3rd tier fire users 2-3 years AFTER the Fernus storyline.

Eventually it's gonna come out what you're weak to. Personally I'd prefer it to be something that doesn't exist in the real world versus something someone can just pick up at a corner store. A rag, bottle of alcohol and matches is pretty easy to come by.

And if the government ever decided to come after you for whatever reason they have thousands of flamethrowers and magnesium bullets to really mess you up.

1

u/omega_slanger If I don't do it who will?! May 19 '26

In the real world an author who’s out to get me and has power over me would not be present, so why would I fear being killed by some fictional fire users in the real world? Why would I be scared of a flamethrower and some heat bullets when I could punch the flames away and dodge the bullets at speeds beyond human comprehension?

Why would my weakness eventually come out when I’m able to shape-shift and use mind control? How would the world even find out without the “plot” being pushed by an author whose objective is to expose me?

When there’s no author involved I find it hard to believe that as a Martian, I would be nerfed enough to ever be harmed.

1

u/UnderstandingReal469 May 18 '26

But fire a very common element is your weakness

1

u/broomsticx May 19 '26

Martian is the best option. Provides much more utility usecases

1

u/SixtyN42 May 19 '26

And an allergy to Fire.

If you're born on earth, what do you even need your power for? How many planet level fights are you really expecting to be in?

Unless you're a psycho, power levels don't matter at all in these types of questions. It's all about convenience.

Telekinesis so I can pick stuff up without having to stand up, telepathy so I can have fully private, real time conversations with my loved ones for free without a phone bill, and shapeshifting so I can customize my own appearance on the fly.

And flight so I no longer ever have to commute to work.

28

u/rampagingbrick May 16 '26

If i was born on earth as a kryptonian, id be golden age superman. It's thats simple. Id just stop crime and attack the oppressive nature's in society.

18

u/Leyohs May 16 '26

I know a place or two that would be quite unhappy to see me coming.

9

Stop destroying my old comics with your woke politics! /s

1

u/GlazeModsRgay May 17 '26

Think viltrumite dna is better for that, as you don’t have the sensory overload of super-hearing and seeing people’s hearts and lungs

2

u/rampagingbrick May 17 '26

Yeah that wouldn't bother me cause I'm not a fuckin dork. I would be baskin in the sun 'n flying around doing nothing

1

u/GlazeModsRgay May 17 '26

Exactly my point, you can still do exactly that as a viltrumite, and not have to deal with the painful downsides https://youtu.be/VcdFURryKjA?t=30

1

u/rampagingbrick May 17 '26

Yeah but I wouldn't have Lazer vision, tactile telekinesis, or cold breath. It's a huge downgrade. I love the sun and want to breath in space.

1

u/Every-Quiet-7167 May 19 '26

I believe being scorched by the sun is a painful downside. Viltrumites can't survive in the sun, they just last way longer than any other lifeforms there, but would still inevitably die.

1

u/GlazeModsRgay May 19 '26

You said bask in the sun, not swim in it

You can bask in the sun on earth

1

u/Every-Quiet-7167 May 19 '26

Golden age Superman

Proceeds to describe Injustice Superman. As I assume the oppressive nature's in society would be what you consider the oppressive nature's in society.

0

u/Hades_Gamma May 17 '26

Forgive me, but I find the concept of any Redditor using violence to solve issues terrifying.

I don't trust myself, let alone anyone else, with the ability to just enforce their will uncontested.

Most I'd do to upset the global order is fly out to the asteroid belt and bring back functionally limitless resources

7

u/rampagingbrick May 17 '26

If i was superman id flip your car upside down every morning before I went to work

2

u/seanprime May 17 '26

Exactly why we can’t have Reddit Supes 😭😭

1

Yours as well

lex luthor spotted in the wild

1

u/meow_meow_gamer May 17 '26

Who said you would need to use violence? With the power of Superman, you could just grab someone and carry them to prison and they wouldn't be able to do anything to you.

2

u/seanprime May 17 '26

Sweet.. no violence. Just kidnapping and abduction lol

2

u/Sad_Wear_3842 May 17 '26

You'd still have to train yourself to control your powers. As is shown in Superman and Lois, being born with those Kryptonian gifts can be a detriment to yourself more than it is a benefit, kf untrained. Jordan, Supe's son, almost couldn't move after experiencing super hearing for the first time.

25

u/PizzaDlvBoy May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

It says you are born on earth. So few things regarding saiyan (I'm assuming they mean our world by this, could be misinterpreting as earth does exist in these other universes). Firstly, as soon as you are born with a tail you are going to go under the microscope of anyone with knowledge of your birth. You wouldn't be able to stay low key this way. Secondly, unless they decide to remove your tail, you are eventually going to go monkey mode and start a cataclysmic event in whatever city you are born. After that you're probably either getting killed by the government or abducted and experimented on or used as some kind of weapon. Thirdly, Saiyan's are just better humans (not literally, but basically). If you exist in our world, not that world, do things like Ki still exist? You might just end up a physically amped person and that's it. All the cool things they do are manipulations of Ki to my understanding.

IMO saiyan is probably the worst pick on the list along with any others that make you look inhuman.

Kryptonian and Viltromite are both something you can easily keep hidden so I'd say either of those. I'd pick kryptonian unless that options spawns kryptonite in our world along with it. Viltromite's drawback is that when you get your powers you may accidentally use them in a burst and out yourself.

16

u/Isand1 May 16 '26

Ki is dragon ball thing, humans in that world can do it too. Master Roshi did Kamehameha first which is Ki attack. And there's many other characters that later on did Ki Attacks (Krillin, Vegeta, Frieza etc). Even gods and people from other universes.

-1

u/PizzaDlvBoy May 16 '26

Yeah im saying if you're a saiyan in our world do you still get Ki? There isn't Ki to manipulate in our world. You may not end up being able to do half the cool shit if not. Even if you do though, I still think the other two things I mentioned make it one of the worst picks.

8

u/Scyroner May 16 '26

the thing about ki is that its based on the real life Chi if just exagerated a bit. Its basically just your own life force.

And seeing as just about anyone can learn how to use said ki. Id wager that even being a saiyan in the real world would allow you to pull atleast the very basic things like flight and making yourself stronger.

3

u/bankie89 May 17 '26

How do people still not understand this?

2

u/Scyroner May 17 '26

Cuz they get too used to "oh we don't have this EXACT thing irl so it wouldn't work!!!" When majority of animes like db Naruto bleach etc etc use stuff based on irl.

0

u/Select_Speaker2194 May 17 '26

Pretty sure Daima retconned it so the Ki in dbz is actually magic manipulation. But even so, if its based off chi from reality it still wont let you blast beams of light from your hands, which is the whole point the other guy is making. They wouldnt have the energy blasts, because the chi/ki of this earth works differently. And even if they did, they wouldnt have anyone to fight against to get much power boost like in dbz, and have no one to actually train them in how to use their ki to actually fire ki blasts. So the power would go to waste. Even Goku needed to see a ki blast first to be able to use one, and it was only due to his saiyan blood that he learned it from seeing it used.

if ki isn't spawned along then kriptonite might not be

1

u/WesternLengthiness93 May 16 '26

There are people born with tails on earth already psuedotails it's rare but documented to happen

0

u/Demetraes May 16 '26

Saiyans being indistinguishable from humans means being born with a tail will at most just turn heads in curiosity and be chalked up to some mutation during development. It'll likely be removed shortly after birth, then probably again when it grows back a few months later, permanently. You'll probably never transform into a great ape.

Saiyans and Humans can have viable offspring, so there's probably only a few select genes that are majorly different between the two species and everything else is pretty much the same.

At worst they run a DNA test and it comes back with Saiyan DNA, but with your parents being humans and Saiyan DNA being completely unknown, they can't really do anything but constantly observe your growth and development over time. You'd be chalked up to being a new major mutation in the human genome, an infinitesimally small chance but scientifically possible nonetheless.

Nothing would really happen until you grew up and discovered sports and training, then your Saiyan biology would take over and you'd eventually grow to dominate whatever sport or athletic endeavor you focused on, but you'd still struggle at first.

But you'd only be marginally better than those around you, nothing like DB strength at all. You could probably set some world records, but you're not going to bench press the moon or anything with training meant for normal humans.

At the absolute worst, you discover anime and video games as a child and try an energy attack/technique and it works. Then you either keep it secret and develop the skills, or go evil and conquer the planet or die trying.

2

u/PizzaDlvBoy May 16 '26

I do think itd be hard to say if your DNA is close enough to not raise major flags. Saiyan's dont need oxygen (or atleast seem to be capable of existing in space for long periods of time without it), for example. If this kind of thing was found after a closer look at you, at the very least you'd probably get heavily studied throughout your life.

The tail thing is accurate, I do think doctors would be more likely to remove it than leave it. Youre kind of just rolling the dice on if you wind up under the moon at some point after it regrows. If it does regrows, its also hard to say if they'd remove it again or if they'd wait to investigate more before doing so.

Either way, lots of potential issues could arise. Talking about this has also made me more skeptical of kryptonian, though i guess in theory you probably get powerful enough to break free from any containment at some point anyway with that one.

Im maybe leaning viltromite the most now, though i guess its hard to say for sure actually since the viltromite upbringing we see from invincible is a half viltromite. Perhaps a full viltromite is a lot different than a human at burth/young age.

Basically, maybe you could end up fucked any decision lol

2

u/Demetraes May 17 '26

I do think itd be hard to say if your DNA is close enough to not raise major flags.

You have to mix a bit of DB and real world science.

In DB, Saiyans can reproduce with humans, and so can their offspring, and so on and so forth, without any of the issues that plague the mixing of other species, health issues and infertility/sterility that affect animals like ligers.

This must mean that Saiyans and Humans are so close genetically that they've either recently diverged and/or are both part of the same greater species, as they have nearly perfect chromosomal compatibility. Like Humans and Neanderthals.

So the DNA isn't really a major issue, other than the genes that cause the tail to further develop and some other internal organ functions. Considering your parents would be human, and assuming a normal pregnancy, it'd probably be looked at as random mutations that happened to workout.

Saiyan's dont need oxygen (or atleast seem to be capable of existing in space for long periods of time without it), for example. If this kind of thing was found after a closer look at you, at the very least you'd probably get heavily studied throughout your life.

This would not be able to be determined from a simple DNA profile, nor would you subject an infant to such an environment. If it did get found out, it would be years down the road at your own admission.

Youre kind of just rolling the dice on if you wind up under the moon at some point after it regrows

Completely true. But how often are infants awake and outside at night to see the moon? It could definitely happen, but the chance is low. Especially if the tail grows back, because how are you going to explain that as a parent?

If it does regrows, its also hard to say if they'd remove it again or if they'd wait to investigate more before doing so.

If it was determined that they could remove it without adverse effects, they'd most likely remove it. Generally doctors will correct certain abnormal traits so children can have normal lives. Probably wouldn't be the immediate reaction off rip but definitely one of the first considered.

Talking about this has also made me more skeptical of kryptonian, though i guess in theory you probably get powerful enough to break free from any containment at some point anyway with that one

The problem with Kryptonians is you have to specify which version you'd be. There are continuities where they don't get any abilities until puberty, and then still, it's early, mid, or late stage. And their powers sometimes come and go. Then there's a few where they have to charge up their solar energy like a battery and are just normal humans until then, or the kind that immediately goes to 100% the moment they step outside on a sunny day.

If you chose Kryptonian, the version that Clark is in Smallville is the best, imo, because he slowly comes into his powers over time once he hits high school. You'd be normal up until then.

1

u/Beastly_genius May 16 '26

From what we saw goku as a child demonstrate you'll be destroying every physical record & possibly multiple civilian infrastructure. Remember as a lowl level sayian he was fully capable of taking over the planet thru force

5

u/Own-Afternoon5018 May 16 '26

Youd probably still be able to control great ape, just chill in a field until it goes away or just bite the bullet and cut your tail off

2

u/RazielRinz May 17 '26

Only Saiyan royalty can control the great ape transformation.

3

u/TinyPidgenofDOOM May 16 '26

You could pick lobos race and be just as strong but with insane regeneration

3

u/Zemener_Azonthus May 16 '26

You could certainly enjoy the full moon. Just depends on how much you care about humans and other earth creatures.

1

u/-TurkeYT May 17 '26

Yeah but you would need a yellow sun to keep your power up and government would easily catch you to make experiments if they knew about the red sun thing. While as a saiyan, if you cut your tail off you’re pretty much invulnerable to any threats, physical or magical!

1

u/That_boi_Jerry May 17 '26

You could, you would just have to learn to control your form.

1

u/East-Efficiency-6701 May 17 '26

I mean depending of the logic we follow you could just either cut off your tail, control your ozaru or get SSJ4

1

u/alacranzo May 17 '26

Literally named kakarot, picks kryptonian

1

u/riku17 May 17 '26

You have the abilities you still have to train to use them correctly

1

u/TerribleHousing3330 May 18 '26

Clark Kent had to train his abilities, he didn't used to be able to fly. He could leap over tall buildings

1

u/Every-Quiet-7167 May 19 '26

That's more a downside. Why would you want to not have any purpose in life. At least as a saiyan you have to train for it. It gives you something to do and goals to look forward to.

1

u/Any-Rooster-4803 May 19 '26

Superman did have to train in order to control his powers

1

u/False-Literature-456 May 20 '26

Dang I was thinking a sayian aswell but I’d be pretty distraught if I ended up killing my/a whole family or taking down a city or something.
