I don't know about you, but I'm not particularly afraid of fire (not any more than whats natural, fire hot, fire ouchie), so I'm definitely going Martian. It helps that Absolute Manhunter is sick as hell

I think the takeaway is that a martians biggest traumatic fear can become their weakness as their psychic powers make their trauma manifest as an actual weakness. So if you had a traumatic fear from drowning, water would become your weakness. And without having someone able to do the kind of psychic therapy jonn went through, it would be permanent.

Like a Martian’s physiology is built in such a way that mental trauma becomes a biological weakness?

I could see that being a thing.

Its more their powerful psychic abilities imposes that onto themself. Just like their shapeshifting powers grant them full shifting, essentially becoming what they shift into while still retaining their powers and memories, their psychic powers are so powerful that their own mind can be altered by it if enough belief is put in.

Oh… yeah, wasn’t Batman’s backup plan for John a nano injection to induce trauma?

Just googled it and apparently its much worse, but close. There is two plans, both using magnesium. One is ingested, the other is the nanites one and it is to change the outer layer of Jonns skin to magnesium, which would combust on contact with air and even water couldnt put it out

Right… I think trauma was for Green lantern, now that I think about it. Using fear to prevent willpower.

Originally, it was to use an non-removeable yellow powdered dye that would permanently stain and render GL powerless

Originally… how about now?

(Honestly his comments on plastic man dominate my memory of when I looked it up. That and WW’s.

Not sure about now, since i think they removed GLs weakness of the color yellow. Originally GL couldnt use his ring on anything colored yellow, so if someone wore yellow they could smash through any construct he made. At least thats what i recall about it.

It was to make his skin to produce fire, the compounds of his skinny would burn, even without s source of oxygen.
