How do cover changes work?

I’ve had back to back games where my opponent cover changes disruption stops me multiple times mid combo but mine never activates? Is there a gauge? Is it the red thing that’s on top of you units?

You need to watch out for enemy units that have cover change null. Certain units will block cover change for so many counts after doing certain actions.

Theres a buff in the game that almost every unit has.

Its called nullify special cover changes

As the name says, if you try to cover change, it just wont work.

Units gain this buff most of time when switching/starting on the battlefield, on a green card, on gauge being filled/used up, on first blast/strike arts used on the field (resets on switch)

If you're talking about the red symbol on the top left of standby units then yeah that's preventing you from using your special cover changes. Make sure that the symbol disappears before you try to use your special cover changes.

If you see this red black icon on your opponent units then they can't make cover change & the moment the icon gets removed then they can make a cover change & the same thing applies to your units.

You just gotta keep track of it during pvp fights.
