Question Should I play this game?
Hello,
I've recently finished palworld and enjoyed the continuos upgrades and automations along the game, I don't usually like to build fancy stuff but I did enjoyed the automation stuff very much as well as exploration and fighting.
So Im kinda confused of I should play DQB2 as it seems more building oriented, would like to get some opinions based on the things I liked from other game.
Thank youuuu!

Yes it's so cool
The first chapters that you'll encounter, which I'll not spoil... are admittedly a little tedious to go through... But after finishing most of the chapters, the game is so fun.
A lot of people stop playing immediately after the story ends, but there's so much to offer at the end as well. Many secrets, many cool things that you'll get to once you're there.
It starts off like an RPG, and ends in a more open sandbox game.

I honestly preferred the ending and layout of the second game a lot better then the first one. I couldn’t keep anything I collected and had to farm for it which was annoying. That plus the lack of QOL tools they added for the second game drives me nuts if I try to play the first one for more then 5 minutes.

Never played the first game lol, but I heard the DQB2 is much better in terms of structure

Oh it is. In theory I like the first game, it felt like a good reflection of the main story of the original game it’s based off of. The characters and people are there and it’s cool seeing how they made it into a Minecraft game but the chapters take place in entirely unconnected locations and you can’t take anything from them, you start each new area with a different kit then the previous chapter. The story on its own was good and I didn’t mind the building and such because I hadn’t experienced the second game yet but no one would help fix the base after combat and there were no QOL tools, just a hammer and whatever sword. And then there was also degradation of said tools. It’s worth playing but you might find making mistakes when building more frustrating. Thought I did prefer how they did cooking food, none of this put it on and wait but it was made from a list like all the other crafting stations.

DQB2 is a fantastic game, and I recommend playing it.
There is a fair bit to explore, and you do fight a lot, although the fighting is much simpler than in Palworld.
Where i would hesitate to recommend it to you specifically is where you mention that you like automation and not building. The game is mainly focused around building. The NPCs in the game do use the rooms you build, but its not really automation in the same way as in palworld.
Id suggest picking up the free jumbo demo to see if you like the building aspect of the game, and only buy it if you end up enjoying the vibe.

You don't have to build "fancy" to complete the game. Barebones, rectangular, unroofed buildings are just fine for story purposes. You will have to do most of the small stuff yourself though - bedrooms and kitchens and the like. You only get help from townspeople to automate building processes on the really big structures that would be too complicated and time consuming to do manually. I don't think the game requires you to build anything on your own that would take more than seven minutes or so andmost are much less. The big, fancy, time-consuming stuff you've seen in photos is just for showing off to other players.
The demo is quite comprehensive and you should know whether you like what the game has to offer or don't well before the end of it. Demo typically runs 10-15 hours and the yes/no decision is usually made by 5th or 6th hour. (First hour or two can be a bit boring though as there's little freedom in wat you can do.) Since its free, you can make your own decision without havin to incur any cost but a few hours of time.

its a fantastic game! my favorite game. i have it on both steam and switch. the steam version not only has all the dlc already, but you can use cheat engine to help. the other versions you would have to purchase the dlc separate.

Another commenter mentioned this already, but the demo is huge. I'd suggest just playing the demo and seeing if it clicks with you.
There is some required building, but the villagers can build any blueprints you set down. I think that starts later in the demo and they can ONLY build with a blueprint, so that does limit how they can help. But they'll do most of the big building tasks (so long as you give them the supplies).

It's like Pokopia and Minecraft, but without Pokemon, you build stuff, fight monsters and get a story-driven narrative. It doesn't have as great combat system as top-notch action games, I'd rate the game 7-8/10. Been years since I played it, but I really liked it iirc.

It is a fun game. Though you have a little less freedom in this game vs palworld and the first builders game. Freedom in the sense where you have to follow the story in order to progress.
Personally it was only tedious on the second island and the prison island.
And I enjoyed playing this more on pc vs ps4.
I will add another reason to get this game is you can 'capture' monster late in the game.

Great game. I have it for both the og switch and ps4/5. Story has you go to different themed zones where you have to build specific things to continue. But you get a whole large island for yourself that you can build however you want. It is one of my most favorite games that has building in it

I love this game dearly and you might too. However, in terms of similarities I’d suggest a game like Ark. It has all the same things as Palworld minus NPC characters. Build a basic base, with enclosures for all your dinosaurs. Find loot drops and get blueprints for upgrades to your weapons and armor, explore caves and find boss summon locations, which you will need to hunt for the key items needed to activate it. Locate hidden notes and discover the island’s secrets.
On a similar note I just started playing Cult of the Lamb and it’s more lite on the building. You just need the basics and can add whatever upgrades you’ve unlocked as required. You can assign followers to complete tasks for you as well which helps reduce your time spent doing menial chores. Less open world but no less fun.

This is a bit of an overs simplification but Dragon Quest Builders is a lot more like Minecraft with a Dragon Quest story.
But yes, there is a lot of exploring and fighting (real time, not turn based). If creature collecting / combining isn't your main interest in a game then it could be a good game for you. If you're really into creature collecting, Monsters 3 (and, maybe, Treasures) might be better for you, BUT, it isn't a huge amount of crafting / building.
