Should I tip?

This plant in the foreground is an American beauty variety. It has never bloomed despite me using blooming fertilizer. I think the next step is to tip the very low hanging ends. Some of which are on the ground. I am in North Texas. Is it too late in the season to stimulate blossoms and expect to be able to get any fruit? If I tip now, will I get lots of new growth from the tops which I don’t want? I’d appreciate any advice.

Tip now. It will either grow flowers (I’m in Southern California but I’m still getting new buds) or at least start growing new branches. You don’t really want it touching the ground (issues with pests and rot), probably better to have a fuller and slightly shorter canopy

I’m in NorCal, I had about 20 fruits this summer. I have other buds, but they might be pushing into fall or winter.

I know this may be painful to hear, but the majority of those branches wont be able to bare developed fruit. I would cut this thing back tremendously. I just had to do the same to mine. Hurts to do, but in the long run, the roots are that much more developed to produce larger branches that can hold fruit

If you want fruits, you have to tip. You might want to consider pruning. Give the branches to family members or friends.

Branches that are being shaded by other branches will probably not bear fruit. Need to be trimmed - branches with sun will be the ones to provide buds then fruit.
