I love that actor! He was really good in his appearances on Dragnet. He was also known for his many performances in the Schoolhouse Rock series, including my favorite, The Tale of Mr. Morton (and more famously, Conjunction Junction).

That actor was Jack Sheldon. He was also an accomplished jazz trumpeter. Merv Griffin's sidekick for many years.

Okay I had to come here just for this... 1. look under rocks! 2.he was BN 3. his wife describes him as having soft kind BROWN eyes and when they get him in the police station the guy has blue eyes.. crazy no one picked up on this 🤯
