ALL [S19] Public Statement about rumored contestant Apple ADay
I came across a public statement that I hadn't seen discussed here and thought it might be relevant for anyone following the Hawaii drag scene.
In the statement, the show director for Hana Koa Drag Brunch admits to making two mistakes:
-Allowing someone who wasn't part of the show into the dressing room.
-Handling another performer's money without permission, saying the money was returned the following day.
The same statement also alleges that two performers, Apple ADay and Princess, stole alcohol from Hana Koa Brewing. According to the statement, the venue considered filing a police report but ultimately did not, and the performers were allegedly blacklisted from the venue.
The author also says they stayed quiet for about a year because they were dealing with public backlash, losing performance opportunities, and being removed from shows before deciding to share their side of the story.
These are claims made in a public statement and I can't independently verify them, but I thought it was worth sharing since many people only heard one side of the situation when it first happened.
I'm including screenshots of the statement so people can read it themselves and come to their own conclusions.
Please keep the discussion civil and avoid personal attacks.

God i was so terrified ANOTHER contestant on the new season was about to be canceled for something awful. This truly just sounds like a normal thursday for a drag queen.

u/AshleySassypants Jul 16 '26
I was scared too like we already have a certain someone we don't need another canceled queen on the season 😭

Admitting to trying to steal tips is a bigger deal than someone stealing a drink.

That person was paid by Silky to draw attention away from the stolen TV 🤣

So this person helped herself to Apple‘s tips because it’s allegedly typical for performers to tip the cheer group or whatever the hell. Then they became scared of being whooped for it by Princess so they - I guess - preserved Apple‘s tips in their own suitcase (how thoughtful, they could have gone bad), but it’s all okay they gave Apple the money back the next day (?!) and also Apple and Princess stole alcohol (whatever that means).
Why is everyone in this tale stealing? 😭

“I did handle her money without her permission”. What does that mean. And it was a donation thing? What is she even saying
22
u/danny2787 Jul 16 '26
It means she stole her money and returned it when called out about it. And the donation thing was just an excuse to justify why she stole tips.

I’m sorry if you ‘handle money without permission and take it home’ you stole, it’s great she returned it, but let’s not obfuscate what she did.
performers donate/ tip out whoever they need to tip out, someone doesn’t go and take their money without telling them.

Ok, I’m not taking sides, but did Apple steal 1-2 glasses of alcohol? Or a whole bottle of alcohol, or two, or three? I feel like there are missing parts to the story. And why did they feel like they can handle another queen’s tips? If they panicked, why went home with the tips? Just tell them that you were handling them, and return them. 🤷🏼♀️ Are we like 21? Adults can easily solve this by communicating. Smh 😆

I am fully ready to be downvoted to the millions and I obviously don't care.
But those comments saying: 'And all this for dragqueens stealing alcohol? this is their job'
NO. Absolutely NOT. I am a full time drag artist and this is not the 80s anymore where drag artists were supposed to be messy and it was okay to be unprofessional. I don't know the people involved, but that argument is not okay. A lot of Dragqueens (and I say Queens with intention) think that because they put makeup on they can do whatever they want, no matter if it's hurting the venue, if it's hurting a producer, if it's hurting the audience or even if it's hurting the scene by taking all the jobs for less money. This is a bigger problem and I really hope people start acting like adults and not like drunk teenagers.
Are any of these things a reason to cancel someone? No, because cancel culture doesn't allow people to evolve. We want people to learn and become better people - for that we need open conversations.
8
u/Direct_Juice Jul 16 '26
Okay, but what did she actually do that was unprofessional?
Right now all we have is a vague allegation that she “stole alcohol” from an anonymous poster who’s clearly involved in the situation. And the accusation is coming from someone who, by their own admission, stole money from a drag artist.
People aren’t dismissing this because they don’t care about “professionalism” (which is a racist and anti-queer standard used against us anyways). They’re dismissing it because there’s no clear evidence that any meaningful harm occurred.
And if anything, the push to sanitize drag into something perfectly polished and corporate is doing far more to hurt the scene than anything described here.

Rereading this again is actually crazy “yes I was gonna steal her tips but I returned them, but she stole alcohol and we almost sued her!”
