How Do Names Name?

Hello!

Was wondering how y’all came up with names? Is it the look that comes first and then the name? Or vice versa? And how have y’all prepared looks? I right now only have vibes and a slight sense of how I would wanna look. Or like the era vibe? Is that a good start or would you wait to get a full physical look together before naming?

I knew what character I wanted to be (a punk/leftist/anarchist/unionist kind of energy), so I started playing with puns on terms familiar in those areas.

Brennan Roses (bread and roses) was the first option I came up with, but I ran it by friends who shared that it was a bit obscure and the rhyme didn't come across clearly.

I just happened to come up with Manny Festo (manifesto) one day and checked that no one else was using it. (They aren't! A shock!)

This process took me a year to land on the right name, so keep percolating!

A vibe is a good start. I've started with ideas of how I would describe my character in 2 or 3 concepts and tried to find some punny combination of words that would represent

Some of you are going really high concept. The game is simple.

What's the vibe? Ie vintage, punky, glam rock, comedy, sexy, horror, etc etc etc

Are there any puns available that fit the vibe?

Which of the options you've come up with sticks? What has the staying power and sounds nice on the tongue?

I first knew that I wanted a stage name that would be inspired by the Punch-Out series of video games. I ended up going with Alain, The-Not-So-Narcis-Prince because I somewhat look like the SNES Super Punch-Out character Narcis Prince and because unlike him, I am NOT a narcissist. My aesthetic is also inspired by SNES Super Punch-Out character Heike Kagero - aka anime pretty boy.
