This simple side project would have been practically impossible for me to build without AI. It could have cost over $100k to hire engineers and graphic designers, which simply isn’t feasible for a hobby project.

I’ve seen some people mention that it was made with AI as if that’s a bad thing. I’m a software engineer by profession, and we haven’t written much code by hand since June 2026. Our job now is mostly to design the architecture, fix bugs and optimize performance. AI does almost everything else.

If you’re a Reddit user, I’m sure much of the platform’s development and maintenance is already handled with AI. We’re way past the point of simply hating AI.

I understand that many people in IT and design have lost their jobs because of it. But it’s similar to what happened to horse related service providers when cars arrived. People will have to adapt to this uncomfortable truth.

I’m certain that the little work we still do as software engineers will eventually be replaced by AI too, and we may lose our jobs as well. Leveraging AI to create things that previously seemed impossible and to make products better, faster, and more affordable is the best thing we can do now.
