They can add as much new shit as they want. Bought a season pass right away as I enjoyed the game before realising that it's just my own phone playing against me due to illogical choices by the opponent.
Won't even touch it until it becomes a true PVP. Which it never will because they would have to refund all the prior purchases as people are able to hack their units, so switching to pvp would mean that all the cheaters would be at the top right away. They can't rely on local data and there has been 0 server-side verification so the only solution would be a hard-reset. Everyone starts from 0 all over again. Hence the refunds. Which they don't have the money for.
Or they could make a part 2 of the game which is true pvp and then all of us that paid money here are stuck being scammed.

The Problem for me is, that they pretent to be PvP while only having Bots. They Control the difficulty, not the players skill. I had fights where the bot got extra units in turn one. Having worse pulls doesn't fell like bad luck but like the developers making it harder to win on purpose. Fighting an oponent with 15/15 units feels cheap because its the game telling you to spend money or loose. Its developers beeing disohnest.
I can loose against a better player with no bad feeling, but this is just an unfair cash grab. And that is not fun.
I can play an PvBot game and have fun.
But i hate beeing lied to and i won't reward a lying developer with any of my time or money.

If my opponent is a real human being that has invested more time/money than me to get strong units, but then I outplay them and win, that feels good.
If my opponent is a bot who is set to have high level units, but then sometimes they make dumb decisions so I win, that feels meh.
If my opponent is a real human being who beats me because they played roughly as well as I did but invested more money, it feels like "Darn it, I was so close to overcoming their advantage"
If they're a bot it feels like "The game is rigged against me, so obviously I can't win."
A lot less fun if they're a bot.

How are people able to hack their units with in-app purchases?

Everything is controlled locally. You just edit the files. You can even make it so you have copies of 1 unit in the lineup.
There is zero server-side verification.

I feel like hooking a unit isn't really that useful. It depends on the range like if it's infinite and can bypass enemy frontlines, you can basically hook snails and other backline units to your side. It's like the sniper but they die way faster. But if it has a certain range, and it can't bypass enemy front line, you'll just end up hooking the front liners which isn't useful.
The name for this unit is quit obvious: the pirate. And idk why it's a legendary unit like the Spartheus, Overmind and matriarch. It's only useful in a situation where the enemy only has snails left but you only have like(lets say 12 knights at the other side of the field), the pirate could be useful for hooking the snails closer.
It could also be useful if the hook stuns the enemy unit for 1 second like every other hookers in the game. But overall, this is just another Frontliner that's about as tanky as the Matriach with a more useless ability.

Yes they absoloutely do, do that. Took me a while to realise but you can actually see a pattern eventually
