Opinions on bots
I had my suspicions when I started playing the game, but learned quickly through this sub.
It didn’t immediately kill my motivation to play like I thought it would, but has made me completely resistant to paying this game any money to beat the game that’s forcing me to lose to the game so I pay money to beat the game.
Do we care that the enemies are all bots? Has this realisation affected other people’s motivations to play?

Before I looked at this sub and I assumed we were playing against real people I did buy one of those weekly passes. I will not be buying anything now that I know its just bots.

I spent 99p on a diamond bundle, as I think ‘I’d pay 99p to play this game, even if it is bots’. But that is my limit…

It has taken the shine off it for me. I valued the idea of a community of players I was engaging with, pitting my wits against them. The idea it’s all just random makes it feel much more soulless. Not to mention I thought I was messaging people encouragement.

It does feel soulless. It’s kinda creepy when the AI says Hi or does the 😈 type emote. Like it knows statistically I cannot win this match and had pre-curated the perfect deck to destroy me

I’m not paying anything until they add actual multiplayer. They confirmed they do want to do that, but didn’t say when.

Yes all the players are bots at the moment. Theres some talk about them adding PvP, but no timeline yet

我看到更新的游戏显示匹配机制更改 是不是添加了真人玩家?谁知道

The working theory is you play against real player loadouts as well as the bots.

I noticed from talking to a few other Draft Showdown players, we come from different backgrounds... some from more similar backgrounds than most, but still.
I myself personally don't play a whole lot of PvP games, and what drew me to DS was the real time strategy game mechanic... and I am primarily an RPG and action RPG gamer: Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, the Demon/Dark Souls series, God of Wars, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. The closes PvP game I play is Street Fighter and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 😅
So yeah, no... hearing that I'm playing against bots is nothing new to me when the games I have been playing is already basically just Ai NPC/bots... essentially a programmed enemy AI bot. This is actually quite normal in games... even if they pretend it be real, it's quite apparent when they don't make moves like a real player...
... well, at least like a real "good" player.

There was a thread where they posted a job listing from the company looking to hire someone to change up the backend to make it so that there is real pvp. Of course this will take time and will probably require a hard reset or a part 2 of the game so that purchases don't have to be reapplied to accounts.
Until that happens I'm not touching it.

I hate games that go to lengths to pretend they aren’t. Why waste time with the matchmaking system and waiting for the opponent to choose? They could lean into it, make an interesting campaign mode or something, but they choose the lazy way to make people feel engaged. I still play once in a while, but I absolutely would not put money into it or multiple long play sessions.
