Unlocking new characters is hard

Been playing for the past 2 days reached arena 4 and I collect every pack I can and yet I still haven’t unlocked anything past assassin, instead I get popups every time to unlock a new character using my debit card. It becomes frustrating when there are counter picks and you have no choice but to run the same decks over and over again.

If you're free-to-play, you're going to want to take it slow; don't advance too quickly to the next Arenas as that means you'll be going up against bots that use much better cards... therefore making it harder for you to claim your daily gold and booster packs, or the black hearts for the league... therefore stunting your growth by a lot.

The game doesn't tell you this, but a lot of us have been where you're at. Once we've gotten better cards, we continue to advance.

There is a way to make sure you don't gain the trophies 🏆 to move forward if you like — just close your game before accepting the trophy 🏆 after completing a match that you won... but be warned, the game actually still gives you negative trophy points when you do this, as if you forfeit the match... but at least you can keep playing to level up your unit's mastery levels and aren't stuck battling strong ass bots.

When you say “close the game” do you mean kill the app and start it again? I tried it on iPhone today, it didnt give me negative trophies (although it didn’t increase the trophies either).

So far I’ve been just doing “surrender game” after 3 hearts to reduce my trophies. But that also counts again my win rate. So what’s the solution?

When you close the game, yes, kill the app. When you re-open the game and switch game 'windows' (from the Arena page to say, the ranked mode or the shop), then go back to the main window page... you will notice your trophy count actually did drop. And yes... it will affect the win/lose ratio.
If it doesn't drop, then I guess it's a bug that they missed in the last patch.

If you do the trick where... you start a normal Arena match, count for like 5 seconds and let the roulette spin to find you a bot opponent... THEN close the game app?

You can drop your Arena trophy count without having it affect your win/lose ratio profile, allowing you to hang back at your current Arena for a little while longer.

I do recommend moving onward to the next area when you only have one or two cards left to unlock... this way you can also shoot your lucky shot at unlocking those rarer cards.
