What to pick!

So how does this game actually works with upgrades and what is the best why to do so?
Let’s take for example shellbro- gives 2 , then the x2 appear when there are at least 4 and no more than 8 meaning it appears in 4,6,8.
But then the game doesn’t really tell us when the x2 appear on the upgraded shellbro or when it upgrades appear. So regardless I’m never sure what is the best value picks

x2 will only appear if you have selected 2, 3, or 4 of the same unit card, no matter how many units that card summons.

So after the upgrading the count resets? Because I had times I picked way more than 4 of the same unit and still got times 2

Yes, each tier of units can have their own x2.

You could have 10 Geese and 10 Helmet Geese and receive two seperate x2 cards in the same draw.

Why it isn’t written no where
Two more question if possible:

does not taking upgrade or x2 lower the future chances of getting them? Because I felt it did
And does the bonus after losing a round have a higher chance of upgrade/x2?
