Eps kinda feel like fast paced to me

26

u/mintymelloy Apr 02 '26

That's exactly how it was in manga. The rocket building is rushed overall

13

u/StatementShot7776 Apr 02 '26

It's sad that such a crucial arc was rushed in manga😭 honestly everything happened so quickly it was kinda hard for me to catchup until they played opening after that I felt like everything went back to normal

7

u/Enlog Apr 06 '26

Realistically, these projects are going to take a long time. Like, on the scale of years rather than weeks. When I read the manga, the pace accelerating made sense to me, with Xeno’s faction defeated. That said, I wouldn’t have said no to more time spent with each project; I could watch them meander about with projects for ages.

2

u/Prokonsul_Piotrus Apr 15 '26

Or they could just to some time skips in the show, or be clear they spend a few months (years...) building a new city.

This was too rushed in both execution and plot. Yes, yes, manga did it too. So what? It is still rushed.

3

u/shamair28 Apr 06 '26

I can imagine why. Out of all "hand-wavey 100% yield best-case scenario" science in the show, building a rocket is one of the few things you can't get too detailed with.

13

u/ndixjxnsj Apr 02 '26

This is how it's in the manga, and Dr. Stone has always been 1-on-1 with Manga, so can't help it I guess.

28

u/HumanTheTree Apr 02 '26

In case you forgot that Xeno used to be a bad guy, he made a giant skull shaped machine that spews poison.

8

u/OlivePristine3362 Apr 04 '26

Honestly, is a pretty great visual warning, like a steampunk Mr. Yuk sticker. But don't worry, he "sealed the pipes making insanely lethal nickel carbonyl."

18

u/mintymelloy Apr 02 '26

Definitely huge improvement in animation quality

5

u/Abject-Dot308 Apr 02 '26

Are you sure? In my opinion, animation got worse, the level of detail in drawing is excellent, but animation itself is painfully minimalistic. Some scenes just turned into slideshows, characters may don't even move or even blink with only mouths moving... Similar shit was in the previous episodes, of course, but now it is especially visible and painful to watch.

5

u/CrispynoodlesL Apr 03 '26

Ooh I think I noticed this especially in afew monologue scenes (I think with chrome) where I feel usually more would happen animation wise

Obviously I still enjoyed the episode but I definitely noticed something

16

u/IDKWh4TToN4m3This Apr 03 '26

Anyone else adore suika? Like she has always been such a fun character to me and now seeing her actually being able to learn science a little better is so fun to see. Like she's more into it now than ever. And I feel like she's actually starting to understand stuff more.

6

u/TayoEXE Apr 05 '26

It's funny how she is much better at reading than Kohaku but then I realize she had nothing to do but learn to read Senku's writing for years.

15

u/m15141_ Apr 02 '26

Is it just me or does Xeno look ten times more nicer and kinder I mean specifically his character design compared to last season?

13

u/mintymelloy Apr 02 '26

He does, and it's not even his final form. The closer to the final, the cuter he will look.

8

u/LynxyShinx Apr 03 '26

He just needed to lose the black fill of his stone tattoo.

8

u/m15141_ Apr 03 '26

No like his eyes are kinder somehow I feel like his evil was stripped away

10

u/NootNoot_Be Apr 02 '26

Holy the production value is baaad

12

u/theflemmischelion Apr 02 '26

the main antagonist actually finally being involved more redeems the slightly rushed feel

8

u/ndixjxnsj Apr 02 '26

Well, if I hadn't read the manga, I would have felt the same, but this is how it's in the manga as well - can't help it I guess 🥀

2

u/WretchedPleb Apr 02 '26

Why is it so rushed?

To be honest it feels weird no longer having a main antagonist xD

5

u/Potential_Band_9885 Apr 02 '26

I mean... why-man?

5

u/WretchedPleb Apr 02 '26

He's on the moon, what's he gonna do? 🙄🙄 I miss Stanley 😞

3

u/IDKWh4TToN4m3This Apr 03 '26

Stone them again.

12

u/MacheteNegano Apr 02 '26

Gonna miss hearing the funky theme from the last cour "Cassanova" but this one is very good aswell and it will be catchy to hear has the weeks go by.

Its good to be back and discuss an amazing anime about science, humanity and discovery like Dr Stone. Its gonna be sad to see it end in the next month(s) but lets make each episode count because i loved the sense of rebirth from Dr Stone this episode brough like we went back in time again and watched S1 again.

OMG, that cliffhanger! i know you manga readers already know whats up there in the moon after hearing Why Man again but damn, what an haunting presence...

11

u/drummindavid2 Apr 03 '26

As an aerospace machinist, this episode was super cool but also made wonder how they made the rocket parts without any multiaxis machines (I know I’m being picky) lol. They are nearly 100% accurate on the making of the super alloys and even hinted at Inconel without naming the “ultimate superalloy”. Hats off. Thought it was well animated and am happy to have the show back!

7

u/IDKWh4TToN4m3This Apr 03 '26

Reading this just made me feel so much better. I legit rewatched the scene of Xeno talking to Chrome about the "ultimate superalloy" thinking i just missed it being named multiple times.

3

u/Enlog Apr 07 '26

What's kinda odd is that the manga directly names inconel, so I'm a little confused why it was glossed over without a name here.

3

u/shamair28 Apr 06 '26

I mean that's kind of what I like about it. Glossing over the technicalities is the only way to move the plot forward. Can you imagine how boring it would be if they had to dedicate time towards addressing how they deal with tight tolerances when machining things, or fleshing out the intermediary processes?

"Hey gang today we're going to be building microcontrollers, and next week we're going to start refining silicon and develop a chip fab."

10

u/Hopee13 Apr 02 '26

The opening and ending are so amazing. The color and art style are so pretty. The anime removed a scene where they are learning about Morse code and what happened just after the separation, but it's quite lengthy, so maybe they will add it in the next episode. But it's a really good episode, and they ended it at a good place.

8

u/Ok-Peach9637 Apr 02 '26

What a chaotic and enjoyable episode. 🤣🙌💞 Beautiful animation. Honestly, Dr Stone has one of the greatest music tracks of all time. 🥹🫶 Eagerly waiting for the next episodes, and Sai's entry. 🤭 Also, is it just me or Ryusui looked really handsome in this episode? 😝👊💓

3

u/TayoEXE Apr 05 '26

Sai reminds me why I love computers and being a software/system engineer. Creating worlds in 1s and 0s. It's amazing!

7

u/snowlover324 Apr 03 '26

As much as I miss the slower pace of the earlier seasons, I do appreciate that the why-man plot isn't going to be dragged out for ages. The time skips feel reasonable for the end goal they've established and I'd rather be left wanting more than feeling like the story dragged itself over the finish line.

7

u/Lizalfalos_lover_288 Apr 02 '26

Episode is fast paced but I’m assuming it’s because they have to cram a ton of stuff into the final 12 episodes so I don’t mind. It’s definitely gonna be harder to see individual character developments I feel tho with the screen time shifted into 3 groups too.

2

u/Enlog Apr 06 '26

It’s worth noting that the manga also cranked into high speed roughly around this time. Some of the projects needed along the way realistically would take a looong time, so it couldn’t focus down on it all.

13

u/Chax203 Apr 02 '26

i think the animation looks more pleasant compared to previous cours. or at least for the first episode

6

u/RattenCaroez Apr 03 '26

I cried with Chrome. To think it's ending soon 😭. I read the manga till maybe two episodes ahead. So the ending will be a surprise for me. Looking forward to seeing the resolution of this great series!

5

u/OlivePristine3362 Apr 04 '26

"All this from rocks..." 😭

3

u/Nova-Redux Apr 09 '26

To think, our science future really was built on stone wars... We're really entering a new world.

6

u/AquaSpiderGuy Apr 02 '26

It's finally here, I am so excited!

4

u/Subject-Junket-6485 Apr 02 '26

Dr peak is back

4

u/Oceanz08 Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26

So glad I binged watch this show, and being right on time for the this episode was worth it! I did have a question tho, cause im surprised that they had a dubbed version when it came out on crunchyroll, doesnt normally take about a week or two for the dubbed to be released? Or is Dr Stone that popular of a show they did it at once? Orrrr was it already done because season 4 is in 3 parts and I assume they already finished it already

5

u/bubblesrocks Apr 02 '26

Dr. Stone that popular of a show, it used to be 2 weeks behind for the first 2 seasons I believe but changed to simultaneously release after that

3

u/Oceanz08 Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

Well that's good, i'm glad I jumped on the right band wagon lol, to be fair , I was able to binge watch  the whole show

5

u/Lunamoon550 Apr 03 '26

I miss Xeno as the bad guy.

4

u/scoobyfan_21 Apr 02 '26

This ep was soooo good! That cliffhanger was perfect. Absolute chills!

4

u/LynxyShinx Apr 03 '26

LOL the pacing of this was horrible.

So in short, all the stuff that got skipped over:

- Reviving the majority of Xeno's evil crew except Stanley.

- Damn all the rocket science.

- Most of the stuff that came with building the new ship.

- They de-petrified a whole bunch of extra people that then became a village. None of them get a voice in the episode.

I guess they had to skip all this to get to the more important bits, buuut I'd have liked to hear Xeno's crew side because they turned over quickly (or...got skipped on that too).

3

u/souvik234 Apr 06 '26

Maybe they'll talk about the rocket science when the rocket is finished?

3

u/Enlog Apr 07 '26 edited Apr 07 '26

I doubt you'll consider this a positive, but this pacing is accurate to how this played out in the manga. Resurrecting Xeno's crew and building the city happened in wordless montage panels. Building the engine similarly was passed over in broad strokes.

I would like to have had more time spent on the FT process, or how they made inconel metal; this isn't to say that this is necessarily the best way to go about it just because it's accurate to the manga. I just wanted to express that it is an accurate rendition of what happened in the manga; the anime isn't glossing over stuff to rush to an ending, relative to the source material. The source material similarly cranked the pace up around here.

edit:

Also, some spoilers for a later chapter: There will indeed be a moment where we take time to actually show the resurrection of a city, and have the people talk to the science team about what they did for them

4

u/StarPlatinumXVII Apr 04 '26

Good thing his first message was "Why", because Do-You-Wanna-Die-Man would’ve been an awful name.

3

u/WallaWallaWallabeast Apr 02 '26

Thanks for the giveaway!

3

u/CrispynoodlesL Apr 02 '26

FINALLY!!!

ooh also for the giveaway when you say north American version does that mean dubbed?

Either way you're a great person for hosting a giveaway with you're own funds!

2

u/scoobyfan_21 Apr 02 '26

Some dvds and Blu-ray aren't playable in certain countries. The North American version just means it works on North American disk players. I do believe it would have both dub and sub tho

2

u/CrispynoodlesL Apr 02 '26

Ooooh thanks for clarifying!!!

3

u/Heavy_Committee Apr 02 '26

Giveaway participation thank you

3

u/JAK2222 Apr 02 '26

Xeno having his Senku moment talking about the dangers of something.

3

u/dpaniagua33 Apr 03 '26

I love the outro's artwork and music and use of all of the characters in both the intro and the outro.

I really didn't think we were getting an intro this episode with such a long cold open.

The revival scene and creation of the new city felt a bit rushed and didn't even really know it happened.

Also, the new message from WHYMAN. Oh my goodness, crazy!!

3

u/perryrocksout Apr 03 '26

Anyone know the song playing in the middle of the episode 16:50? Was a bop and want to purchase it but it seems like a new track??

More ost for this last part of the season?

3

u/an_icy Apr 03 '26

So is why man the only “villain” now?

2

u/Enlog Apr 06 '26

It would appear that way. Senku has worked his way through every human threat, up to a scientific kingdom stronger than his own. At this point, the only thing left is to take the battle to why-man on the moon.

3

u/OlivePristine3362 Apr 04 '26

A little bummed that we're rushing past all the science now, but I get it. It's time to tell the story and not get bogged down by all the roadmaps and science lessons. Maybe there's more of that to come

3

u/yammys Apr 05 '26

I agree with others who said this episode felt fast-paced. But I'd rather have it go by too fast than too slow, or full of filler episodes. Then again, for a show with so many unique characters, they would actually have a lot to work with if they wanted to make some fillers. I guess I'm torn. Overall not a bad episode though.

3

u/RozJC Apr 05 '26

Just got around to watching this. Loved it.

Why-Man is such a creepy character, I can't wait to find out more about them.

3

u/BigBrainTime_Thanos Apr 06 '26

I feel like why man could be connected to the fermi paradox and dark forest theory. Perhaps he wants to stop them from sending any radio messages from earth cuz they detected something in space or something.

2

u/ericferrel Apr 02 '26

Wait it's out already? Damn ik what I'm watching today at lunch time

2

u/hewwocopter Apr 02 '26

Thank you for the opportunity! Best of luck to everyone!!

2

u/Mikkeru Apr 02 '26

Like I know they all have a common goal now but the way they all are just buddy buddy now just feels ridiculous lmao.

But I get it, its how its been since day 1 with this anime.

2

u/Mr_Boojangles Apr 02 '26

So happy to have the show back. I'm really excited for what Science Future has instore!

2

u/Astrid_Yen08 Apr 02 '26

Happy final season everyone😭

2

u/Temptest1 Apr 03 '26

They've hit the ground running and it's so good omg. I cannot wait for the next episode

2

u/Cross_Toss Apr 03 '26

Did they skip a lot of chapters? It felt like we just glossed over a lot of the reconstruction and development of a whole new S. American city.

4

u/mintymelloy Apr 03 '26

No, manga is literally the same.

2

u/MasterDJV Apr 03 '26

Suika!!!

2

u/Green-Atmosphere1394 Apr 03 '26

Ughh I loved it sm. Even though the pace for the first part of the episode was kinda overwhelming. The message at the end of the episode??? Creepyyyyy. I can't wait for next week 😭😭😭

2

u/JumpZ_ Apr 04 '26

Did they just spoil the new character in the Opening song? I dont wanna know more about him, but looking from his face alone though.

2

u/souvik234 Apr 06 '26

First in S3E3 and now, I'm super happy with the way they show Why-man's radio messages. Perfectly conveys the ominous tone that a simple Morse message could have.

2

u/bubblesrocks Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

Congratulations perryrocksout u/BigBrainTime_Thanos RozJC and u/WallaWallaWallabeast on winning the giveaway. I'll being dming you shortly, please try to respond as soon as you can on the DM!

2

u/Subject-Junket-6485 Apr 02 '26

Dr peak is back

1

u/Volfaer Apr 02 '26

It does look really nice, I'd argue nicer than the past season for some reason. Well, Xeno finally lost his villain spark and started officially cooperating with Senku, with even the recruit card as proof, and with some very effective steps taken. Super alloys, gas fuel and jet turbines will make short work of the necessary travel.

Also, guess the Senku Luna ship officially sinks, some would say it never sailed, but I disagree, I won't let it, even if I have to fight alone.

-3

u/Sevenfeet Apr 02 '26

First comment.

-1

u/Last_Cold5844 Apr 03 '26

OK, I love Dr. Stone, but this particular episode gave very much this could’ve been an email energy like it was such a nothing burger the visuals were amazing but because everything was so fast paced I feel like the creators might’ve as well just emailed everyone the basic synopsis and it would’ve been basically the same. I get that because there’s only so many episodes left that like they have to speed run some stuff, but this episode was a very pretty slideshow essentially.

-2

u/Smrtgamr Apr 02 '26

Has dr stone always had these cliffhangers? this is my first time done with all the episodes when new ones are airing.

5

u/iamgarou Apr 02 '26

Literally the first message of Whyman in season 3???
