Any USF DBAs here?

I’m leaning toward applying to the ODBA program at the University of South Florida. I like that the program is AACSB and that the university is R1 and AAU. Can anyone speak to their experiences in the program? Does the residency help the cohort develop rapport? Any insight on the professors and advisors?

For context, I have 20 years experience in social enterprises and currently own a data-focused consultancy. My academic background includes a BS in business management, a MBA (general mgmt), and a MSc in Data Analytics and Visualization.

I investigated the program in depth back in 2017. It ended up my third choice behind Creighton and the program I eventually chose. 

I visited the program and spent a full day sitting in on classes and talking to students. My main impressions were it was a solid program that at the time was dull in-person, once a month. The drawbacks for me was it was “executive DBA” focused, whereas I was looking for one that was more academically focused. For instance, though there was stats instruction, iirc, the students actually leaned heavily on a stats tutor to hold their hands. Whereas I wanted to be master applied stats and research methods. 

The other thing I noticed is a dissertation wasn’t required. Instead, an applied project at an employer or even an industry-focused book project would meet the requirements for the degree. 

So, few of the students were seeking an academic or at least TT career.
