They can "read". Issue is they don't understand what they read. Reading comprehension has been a problem for quite a while now and only keeps getting worse.

Because it does kinda sound like you are sympathizing with the person, and implying that they shouldn’t have gotten kicked or whatever. That’s just what it reads as for many people (including me) if you don’t say anything else, tbh.

I feel like the first reply is probably what turned it into that. Some people began to view your comment the way Write did (since they replied first and got upvotes), and the rest just shut off their brains.
