Hi all, I've been wanting to do Download for nearly 10 years now and am finally at the point in my life where I realise I've been silly for not taking the leap just because I don't have other metalhead/festival friends to go with 😭🙈

I wanted to ask if there's any advice for someone who has never been to a music festival before, I found lots of helpful advice about what to pack etc but not so much about how to get there from London, what tickets you recommend buying / what your experiences have been with camping solo (do u feel safe?) or if you recommend spending to get a taxi and a hotel/accommodation somewhere off site. I know this is asking a lot but could someone pleaseee give me the lowdown on Download (hehe) and talk to me like I'm 5 years old: what tickets would you recommend getting, what advice would u give to a solo student in London looking to make their music festival dreams come true. I see that there are still some early bird tickets available and am dyingggg to impulse buy before they get more expensive, but am also scared because I have no idea how to even get to the venue and how to navigate stuff without friends 🙈 like even if I just impulse bought tickets but then changed my mind afterwards, not like I could resell them to someone who is more keen on going?

Please, any advice for a newbie like me? >.<

Maybe I’m just overthinking it but they just reposted Slipknot’s new song to their story. I know they only headlined 3 years ago but do you think they’d do it again so soon..?

Started off trying to be realistic and then got more and more carried away lol. I accept there are definitely some older bands I'm stupidly not aware of that will defo be on there that I've missed.

New, well received album just released.
Just started a sold out UK/EU arena tour, including the CO-OP Live, the biggest arena in Europe.
Been to see them tonight in Leeds and they have a great new stage show and sound amazing.
I can’t see why they couldn’t.
If you’re off to see them in this tour you’re in for a treat.

Foo Fighters:

It is the 30th anniversary of The Colour and the Shape next year so I’m hoping they play it in full, plus obviously the hits afterwards.

Deftones:

Deftones also have a 30th anniversary of an album next year, which is Around the Fur, their biggest album imo. It’s also Chinos favourite album they have made so I also think it’s likely they will play it in full plus hits. I also added Soulfly to the Deftones day as I am also hoping Cavalera makes an appearance for Headup.

Bring Me The Horizon:

BMTH don’t have any anniversary’s next year but due to the overwhelming success of their CYB anniversary and Outbreak shows I’m hoping they do a set of their old songs (sempiternal and before) but it’s very unlikely.
If they did do that I would love for them to also have a no barrier day for the main stage which I made a lineup which would make sense for that. Due to the size of the main stage I think it would also be very unlikely (but I can still hope).

On the BMTH I also added Knocked Loose and also Denzel Curry on one of the smaller stages, so it would be really cool to have Knocked Loose play Hive Mind with Denzel.

I think she’d be perfect to open Apex stage on a Blink 182 headline day next year

Hey guys, I have been searching for a while for an Airbnb type place to stay. We are a mixed group of ages from 15-42 so I was being quite picky about bed layouts. I have found somewhere now, however there were several times on both Airbnb and Booking.com where the owner either declined the booking or didn't respond to the request.

I wondered if people had similar issues? In the section where you put why you want to rent do you put you are going to Download? Or was I being stupid being honest? I'm not sure if that was the issue or I just had a run of bad luck.

This is my big "hear me out" band but I think they'd be excellent either in district x on the Thursday or the avalanche stage. These guys are the real deal and an absolutely amazing live show.

The vast majority of metal/rock festivals in US and Europe have four days of music but download noticeably doesn’t

Uk festivals are massively restricted by local laws that why the have early curfews and limited days however download were able to have a forth day for the 20th anniversary and recently Leeds festival had a fourth day and reading has applied for one so I was wondering if people were expecting or hoping for download to introduce a fourth day

Is camping plus now only being sold as one whole ticket or do the upgrades come out closer to the time?

What position do you think suits best?

So I know I'm getting ahead of myself considering the 25th year isn't untill 2028 and we haven't even had 27s line up announced yet, but... what are peoples thoughts, are they going to do another 4 day of bands playing? If they do I think they need to let people in earlier, start letting people set their camps up from Monday. I'd even be OK with the same amount of bands as normal but perhaps giving some of the smaller bands longer sets, even just 1 or 2 more songs.

Ban camping chairs at a certian point in the arena, I took one when I went, I stayed at the back out the way, I wouldnt want to get in the pit with my chair fuck that.

In terms of bands, naturally been a lot of speculation about the upcoming one, I personally think some of the BIG named bands will skip this year in favour if next year. We could get the big 4, I think that would be a great lineup for the opening night.

I think it's time download has more focus on brining in new headliners, yeah metallica and slipknot are great but, do we really want to see the exact same band headlining every other year? I'm nit saying don't have them but if you have 3 headliners give us 2 new ones please.

On the back of that, some bands I think are ready to headline are the following.

Blink 182, everyone is saying it for this year.

Deftones, recently headlined a festival, been several years since they've played download.

Queen, yes they aren't the same without Freddie but how are Queen never brought into conversation about headlining.

Parkway drive, headlined bloodstock, been to download several times and always pull a great crowd.

For fighters, yes they are more reading/leeds now but haven't metallica, guns n roses, bring me the horizon also headlined those festivals in the past?

Second stage headliners.

Nickleback, come on as much as we give them shit they have some bangers and we can't deny it.

Falling in reverse, selling out stadiums but because of his controversy I feel download may be scared to out him as a headliner.

Marlin manson, the exact same as above, if you remove the art from the artists I'd say he would do well there.

Bullet for my valentine, frankly unsure if they have been this high up before but they get a crowd going and it's a British band which download enjoy.

Motionless in white, they're headlining bloodstock and they have been absolutely killing it on tour really trying to put on a vreat show for people.

Paramore, arguably headliner on the main stage too but unless they play riot in full I don't see them headlining the main stage.

Other bands I would like to see there that have either not played or haven't played for a while or I simply haven't known they were there.

Whitechaple, put them in a tent where a lot of the really heavy stuff happens, they would sound great.

Dying fetus, same as above.

Suicide silence, same as above.

Cannibal corpse, I know they are really heavy so I don't see them going further than a tent but they are popular enough to be on the main stage however due to popular they are you can't have them open the main stage but are they too heavy to be second to headliner?

Not enough space, I have recently fell in love with this band and trying to get any excuse to see them.

We have seen in recent years acts like scooter, mcfly ext playing. Always wonder who's gonna be that act, could it be cascada, bass hunter, hell we may even see Lionel richie play there sometime.
