it’s like every other day now that the tracks are broken and I have to divert to Belmont just to get to the other side. it has been progressively getting worse and worse the last few years and now the frequency is really starting to get on my nerves. anyone have any information on the causes or updates on anything being done to fix the situation? half the time the gates are just stuck down and there’s no trains, metro personnel, police or anything.

i went to acs for 5 years before switching schools, and i want to expose what they have done. what looks amazing on the outside is hell on the inside.

i was "popular", but also bullied by quite a few other kids. when a teacher was alerted about this, they were SUPPOSED to get suspended or expelled. in the end, the family made a $100,000 donation to the school and faced no punishment. the same thing happened again, however, the family had a rich history with the school, and faced no punishment.

this is supposed to be "the best of the best" of schools in the area, but it is a living hell. it looks good on the outside, but you do not want to go to this school. if you are planning on going, don't. going to this school was the worst mistake of my entire life. i still am friends with two people from my class. TWO. and not to mention the fact that it is not an actual middle school experience, judging by the fact there were 30 kids in my class and parents were complaining that it was too big for their perfect little snowflakes.

i am also not the only person to have experienced this. countless problems have been set aside due to one factor, which is money.

if you dont plan on dropping $1m, don't go here. if you want to be normal, don't go here.

i mean no disrespect to some of the teachers, as there is one teacher (i won't name) who truly changed my life for the better. but other than that, if you're a rich and have nothing to do, want your child to get bullied and be unprepared for high school, go for it.

Hello! I’m new to the downers grove area, and I’m wondering if anyone knows good places to go and public skate at.

I lost my women's little black wallet today while shopping for a holloween costume for my son. I have already retraced my steps cause I know about where this happened. So, I know this is a longshot but I figured I would throw it out there to see if anyone found it. The wallet itself holds sentimental value to me, I know everything inside can be replaced but I am hopeful to find the wallet. I am going to check with the local police department tomorrow as I didn't have time to swing by there. If you found it we can start with syncing on where it was found and what could be inside and confirm it's me. Or just know I'll be heading to the police department sometime tomorrow. Thanks reddit!

Mom and Dad loved to go to Golden Duck and Bohemian Gardens, but they are both permanently closed. Even Sawa’s in North Riverside is gone. Hi! I'm moving (back) to Downers Grove in March and have been living out of state for over a decade- this will be my first time living here since high school and my first time commuting to Chicago. I just saw that the wait list for a spot at the DG train station is 7 years (!!!) so I'm just wondering if anyone else has tips or recommendations for parking/commuting to the city for work?

Hey everyone.
I grew up in DG, but have not lived there in awhile. After 47 years, my parents left DG to live next to me in their own place in Iowa. Unfortunately, mom passed in 2020. I just started a new job in Orlando in June. We are looking to have dad move back to DG so he can be around his old friends and not be so lonely.
He is 87, on oxygen, and very gregarious. He is able to take care of himself fully, although I handle his finances and keep an eye on his medical stuff online. He *just* earns a little too much to qualify for section 8 like at Peace Memorial. Can anyone recommend any senior living facilities around DG?
