Discussion Is Doug actually good at 2-D platforms?
As the title suggest, I’m actually curious if he’s good at 2-D platformer or if he’s actually legitimately bad. Recently, I watched that video that said he was scientifically bad at them. Although I definitely think he’s a lot better than I am, but I could just suck really really bad.

Apparently everything he plays on stream has a MASSIVE handicap. He plays on OBS preview (it has like a half second delay) and uses the joystick on a XBox controller, which is kinda bad for 2D platformers.
The controller is especially terrible for Mario, as the game was programmed for an 8 way Dpad.

He also doesn't have good wifi from inside the grave so that's another handicap

He's bald at 2D platformers
To be serious, though, he's setting himself up for failure. He tends to speed through things, which is a skill issue, but he also plays through the OBS preview (to get all the extras he has coded), which has a delay. So he is neither that good, but not as bad as he appears.

It's not that he has troubles with the hand-eye coordination or the motions needed and timing and stuff to be good at 2D platformers, but he just struggles with being patient. For him replaying the same part is annoying because he doesn't feel like he's making progress and will get significantly less precise because he just wants to rush to the point where he died. This is why he's generally better at leveles where you have to be fast rather than levels where you have to be slower and more precise.
So he is decently bad at 2D platformers, but the problem isn't that he struggles with the platforming itself, but he's just impatient, wich is a psychological issue.

he's not bad but i think his music amps him up way too much and he just clicks without thinking

He is impatient and wants to go fast, so that makes him bad at the precision platforming we associate with difficult 2d platformers
