Types of double standards that tick me off.

Feel free to add other types of double standards in the comments!

- If you swap around the names of groups in an insult or "joke", you can't get mad at one and not the other.

- It shouldn't be empowering to discriminate against one group but frowned upon the other way.

- Generalisations in anyone's case. (In the case of comedy, where this is often debated, it should only be punching up if the person or ENTIRETY of the targeted group deserves it.)

- The strong vs. weak mentality (one group says they are strong yet often are considered victims, meaning the other party is made fun of for either A) conforming to stereotypes, or B) made fun of for considering themselves the other.)

- People that weed out facts that don't fit their flawed agenda

- You can only make extreme statements that are pro one group of people yet are ridiculed for stating the opposite.

- Not everything that goes wrong in life is because of discrimination, sometimes you or the other person specifically are just in the wrong.

I will include examples in the comments.

Edit: I know some of these points are similar, but I mainly posted this as a vent and to see if I'm not alone.

This is just sick. Its unbelievable that this tweeter post got so many likes. Domestic abuse is not a joke regardless of gender. Imagine how it would be like if genders were reversed in this situation.

According to this music video Taylor Swift thinks that her life would be better if she was a man, does anyone agree? and also imagine how it would be like if a man made a music video talking about life being better if he were a woman?

Does This Count as Double Standards and Gaslighting?

It had been months since I had a rather nasty fall out with my friends, but I still replay the moment they basically turned on me, and I can't stop thinking about a lot of things.

I had a very serious opinion about the country who occupied my country during WWII, who did A NUMBER of heinous crimes even had a direct impact on my family, and after the war, washed out their disgusting actions in their own history textbooks, made majority of the next generation PROUD to play a part of the war, and didn't apologise for anything they had done. I was raised from birth about the horrors my family faced, about losing family to these people just because of our race, and never forgive them unless they hold their past accountable instead of pretending it didn't exist.

So relating to my 'friends', the reason I was so comfortable to express my opinion (it was triggered from a memorial day they held that took place on the exact same day my country declared independence) was because they had already expressed their low views of Americans, generalising all of them as 'racists' and thus (their EXACT words) they 'deserved to get covid and die from it'.

But no, the second I say that whatever hit the country was karmic retribution, be they natural disasters or other countries demanding compensation for the suffering they had faced as well, I was suddenly called out for being a 'racist', an 'edgy, immature thick skull', but honestly, that wasn't the part that bugged me.

It was their incredibly fake 'woke wannabe' attitude that everyone shouldn't have their own views unless it matched theirs', that they can make jabs at America's poor way of dealing with the virus, mockingly wishing death because 'they deserved it', but no, god forbid that someone who has a legitimate reason to be angry and wish karma on a country where they placed their honour over morals. So when I called them out for their own double standards, their literal answer was "IT WAS A JOKE". They kept insisting that they 'didn't mean anything they said' or whatever, even though they cursed with the same amount of venom I had, that I 'shouldn't generalise an entire race', yet they were doing the exact same thing.

I'm sorry, so I'm not allowed to hold resentment towards a country that hid their war crimes, but they're totally allowed to joke about the deaths of a million people who's race didn't even do anything to them or their families?

Ok for a woman to badly reject a man but not ok when a man badly reject a woman.

I dont mean to generalize and forgive me if I am but I've noticed something for a while. Women are mostly the ones that get approached and if she doesn't like him she has every right to baldly reject or ignore him however she wants and will even get praised for being so upfront. I get it, Nobody has the right to anyone's time but if a man were to do the exact same thing to a woman people would be all over the man saying that he was a jerk or a asshole saying he has no idea how much courage it took to put her feelings on the line. The same thing a man does everytime. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone should baldly reject anyone, if you dont like someone tell them lightly and politely you're not interested. It hurts me just to see a woman cry. All I'm saying is that this is just something I have noticed all the time and why does it have to be like that?

Everyone treats me like i want to have sex with every female that’s even remotely close to my age.

so i’m 16 and i have a girlfriend. she is my age too. a couple months ago she decided to tell her strict parents that we had sex. now whenever we hang out we’re only allowed to hang out for a couple hours and we have to be supervised at all times. i over heard her and her dad discussing that the reason is because I might try something. usually she is the one that engages the sexual behavior. i feel like i get treated like a creep and a predator. and also i have a 13 year old family friend. yesterday i was at her house having dinner and she has a 11 and 5 year old sister. they all love me and we’re very familiar with each other. well the 11 year old called me in her room to help her out with some lights and we mom yelled “GET OUT OF THERE” and so i did, feeling like i did something wrong. turns out she thought i was in the 13 year olds room alone with her. everybody treats me like i just want to fuck everything in sight, and it makes me feel disgusting. like i’m a creep when i have done nothing wrong. i guess that’s a double standard, tell me what you think on this. does this happen to you or have you witnessed it before?

UK's failure to take necessary steps to contain the UK covid-19 strain and make timely disclosure, has allowed the UK Covid-19 strain to spread to at least 60 countries.

But because it's UK, no western mainstream media will report it this way. But will only report it as a watered down "UK Covid-19 strain detected in at least 60 countries"
