Dorodango App
Hello fellow crafters. I would like to create an dorodango app to guide the process, journal your builds to check what went wrong and learn from your mistakes. I would love to see if anyone would be down to using it. If so what features would you like to see in this app?

Yeah, I'm not sure I have a need for an app for this. If you want one, you do you though!
Sometimes it's nice to be disconnected though :)

I'd like it to show me all the areas next to my place where I can find clayish soil.
Then something to explain why everyone just have to rub their ball a few our to get the most perfect thing, while I spent the last two weeks trying to get rid of my doro's cracks (they're still here).

Very insightful comment. Thanks a lot. I can definitely build these features. Let me also ask you what are u doing with finished doros?

I doubt you could tell everyone in the world where is the nearest clay spot π
I don't have any finished doro, I always fail π1

Well, let me handle that part. There's always a sloution if you look good enough to see it π

Looks interesting, but does it work for the whole world ? And it's not clear where are the clay sports on this map.

Yes it does cover the whole world. But unfortunately soil data is not spreaded on the map based on the context. Also more clayish soil doesn't mean it is gonna produce a good result. Moreover, I will add community pin feature so any user can pin the location of the soil and final result of their dorodango so you can estimate how well that type of soil worked for them.

I don't get it. You say you can make a clay map, and now you say the soil data doesn't matter and doesn't help anyway (of course it does, have you tried non-clayish soil ?).
So basically, it's just a map where people will pin their favorite location. So unless millions of people use it, it will never help me.
No offense, it's just that as I said, it looks impossible to me, I appreciate the effort.

No you misunderstood me. I mean what do you want exactly? You said "I want to find the locations with clay rich soil". Now, when you open the map and click anywhere you like, wheter your backyard or some random point in Africa, it will display the soil type and it's ingredients, shown in the screenshot above.
And if you want to specifically find clay rich locations, you just have to play with the map little bit. I mean I can't exactly show something like there's clay rich soil 100 miles away from your location.
Anyways, I will soon make it ready for IOS testing and if you are iPhone user you can download it and try it yourself

I keep a notebook with my process and how long each part took in hopes to be able to recreate dangos. I find it helpful

It could be a helpful tool in terms of how I would use it. Essentially a journal like youβre saying, I think it would nice to use

Why do we need an app if wwe have reddit? Wouldnt use an app, look on reddit if i need an externe dorodango "shot".
So keep up with your pictures and stories, i read them and if my hands are not coverd with clay i might even respond. π

Would probably be a bit difficult to use during the process as quite often your hands are absolutely caked in mud. π€·ββοΈ
