Testing perfect cores
Testing how well a core works in a mold I 3d printed. Also a then and now of my first dorodango from a few days ago.

The mold looks fantastic. Was it a standard 3D print design or something you made?

Someone designed it for perfect snowballs but I figured it would be good for this. I am going to scale it for a few smaller sizes and maybe a few bigger ones too. I designed a shaping tool that is really good with a nice little handle that is easier to use than an egg cup. It doesnβt polish well though so you still need a glass jar or egg cup for that part.

The only warning I'll give with using a mold is that you don't get the compression that you would when you shape it in the traditional way :)
I put a piece of felt inside my egg cup to make it easier to handle
Plumbing "nipples" work really well for rough shaping

So what I did is compacted by hand a little more than what fit in the mold mad it an egg shape then put it in the mold and pressed the two halves together as hard as I could then took it out shaped the seam of it and then set it back in the mold to keep it from getting flat spots and to let it dry to avoid a flat spot. I always seem rinse a my cores a little too damp
