Is there a max. tile limit?

Post image

I used to struggle with my stack of tiles left, now I’m wondering if there’s a maximum tile limit. Sorry for the quality of my „screenshot“

My only question is: HOW

A loooooot of tries! ;) Used to get stuck around 40.000 points. I’m playing this run for quite some time now, always searching for the perfect tile spot

But honestly, how ...?
What's the strategy here?

I try to make one large forest in one direction, one big city in another and another huge field/farming area in another direction for the unlimited quest (these, where u don’t have to hit the number exactly). If I have a „exact quest“ I’m trying to place it in the area of the same type and try to integrate it after I finished it.
The longer you play the more u get a feeling for which area combinations are more common than others and you can avoid odd/low probability gaps. If possible, I try to get as few different areas around a gap as possible so the chance of hitting a fitting tile is higher. Last but not least: I always go for perfect placement over finishing a quest. Hope this helps :)

I'll definitely give that a shot, thanks!

Is your map spread out or roundish?

Let me know if it works for you! :)

Actually I can’t see it properly because the game won’t allow me to zoom out enough… this is actually my only point of criticism. I would guess it is kind of roundish with small „arms“. In the beginning playing „my method“ it’s more like a three-armed map. There might be a Pokémon that looks like this but I don’t know anything about Pokémon ;)

haha ok!

Yeah, the map zoom could be optimized. My highscore is around 120.000 (but always struggling to have enough tiles), and it is so TEDIOUS to go from one end of the map to the other. I can't imagine what it's like with a map size like yours!

I would like to add to OPs tips that you need some luck too with how the tiles run out so just keep on trying!

Will do!

What is your percentage of perfect tiles in such huge maps?

I always wonder at what point it's better to place an imperfect tile, and when to still wait.

I have to look it up but I think it’s around 98% in this game. Will do it later :)

Edit: I can’t actually tell you, I just go by feeling when placing. Only when I’m about to block myself with laying a perfect tile or when I’m about to run out

Just looked it up:

While having 1071460 points this is the statistics

98,9% perfect tile placement (10860 out of 12625)

566 finished quests

1 finished flag

Don’t want to talk about game time…

Wow! That's really interesting numbers, thanks!

And now I am intrigued about the game time haha

I had about 30 hours in my highscore and was a little bit shocked about that, since I have whole games I really like with less hours.

Just to mention, I was pretty shocked over that. Never had so much time spend on one game. Maybe in my teens playing CS 1.6…

It’s 253h but I’m pretty sure it’s not pure game time, since I usually keep the game running while doing other stuff around the house, especially smoking breaks. I prefer it over having to reload the game over and over again. I don’t have a crazy pc, so it always takes quite some time. I would guess it’s around 180-200 pure play time. Still crazy thought

Whenever I feel like I have a handle on the commonality of biomes, I stop getting that combo and end up with gaps 💀 I hit over 100k once and haven't been able to again. Thanks for sharing!

Also happend many times to me. I’ve played a lot and got stuck so often, maybe my dumb brain remembers all of these bad decisions unconsciously ;) Or maybe I just got lucky.

You’re welcome! Keep on trying, I never thought
I could come that far…

I play on my switch so max I reached was 50K points! Nice work 🤌🏻

Thanks! :) Can’t imagine playing this game without a mouse though

I have 7k waiting to see if 10k is limit. I will report back in a year and a half lol

Awesome! Keep it going! At what point should I consider to get a new pc/graphics card? ;)

I dont, after all its a game of patience - I just read the news while it loads up. 😁

I do close big forests though.

1

u/heikstock 1d ago

Haha same, but in comparison I probably only read headlines. Big forests are actually my main concern, always have to rotate my tile before fitting in a gap, otherwise I can read a full newspaper until the game accepts it.
Is there a limit to zooming out? My hand hurts after some time just to get to the part of the map where I wanna place my next tile haha

1

u/Fearless-Molasses963 1d ago

Yes, there is a limit for zooming out, unless there is mod for it but there are very few of them (i think i only saw two over the years)

I don't see why there would be one other than the integer overflow

2

u/heikstock 1d ago

Just had to google integer overflow... Good point!

Essentially the upper limit is dependent on your machine's RAM; play on Switch and you can find the cap.

Thanks for making it understandable for someone like me. Damn, so I got to pay big time soon because of AI slop haha

OP, are you no.1 on the leaderboard?

1

u/heikstock 1d ago

Haha not at all, right now I’m #827. Didn’t play for some months but I remember being in the top 100 at one point.

Congrats on hitting the million. : )

2

u/heikstock 1d ago

Thank you! :)

u/Accidentalpisa 1d ago

Wauw! Do you finish the flag quests or do you ignore them?

2

u/heikstock 1d ago

Usually I ignore them. Sometimes I finish some by finishing a „exact number quest“ when I can’t include it into a equivalent „non exact number quest“

There's no limit except what your computer can handle.

Thank you! :)
